Stipula Etruria Photo Thread

This would have been much better without the thin golden ring on the barrel. If they were looking for a place to engrave the brand, the darker side of Arco would do.

Look a the quintessential, almost Japanese, minimalistic shape of the body of this Etruria...

fpn_1597966498__the_shape_of_the_etruria

In my Etruria Magnifica Miele Selvatico, a cartridge/converter filler pen, they still used a purely decorative ring at the cone "filler", which is obviously non-functional.

Here they simplified also this point, eliminating the ring, simply declaring that the pen is a C/C filler. It is perfect.

[sorry for the blurred pic]

  • 4 weeks later...

I have added two Stipula pens to my collection since I last posted to this thread. I need help identifying the model of the black and grey pen. It is smaller than the others and has a straight black grip section. It is a cartridge converter pen with a two tone fine 18k gold nib. The hardware is sterling silver. The material of the pen looks like celluloid, but does not smell like it. The barrel is engraved “Stipula Graphite”. The grip is engraved “094”. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
My other pens are:

A piston filling Suprema in Ambra celluloid nitrate with a two tone 1.3 mm italic 18k gold nib.
A one-of-a-kind cartridge converter filling Etruria Fontana delle Rane in teal celluloid acetate with a medium 14k gold nib.

A #2 of 18 piston filling Faceted Etruria in black and green celluloid nitrate with a medium 14k gold nib.

A piston filling Etruria in Cracked Ice celluloid acetate with a fine 14k gold nib.

I hope you all are doing well and enjoying your pens!AEB05427-FDD7-4D54-94E9-7BFAF20F4756.jpeg

I would like some help identifying the model of this pen. It is 5 3/8” long capped. There are only three sets of leaves on the sterling silver clip. It fills by cartridge converter and has a two tone fine 18k nib. The grip section is black, straight and flares out at the end. The barrel is stamped “Stipula Graphite”. Is this some kind of Etruria? Thanks!

TheFairyCircle: Thank you for sharing photos of your beautiful Etrurias. The facetted one with Bononia celluloid is my favorite of the group.

That’s my favorite one too. The looks, the grip section, the weight and the way it writes are the best of all of them. It’s perfect to me and one of my favorite pens in my whole collection.

I had never seen before an Etruria Graphite (nice by the way!), but Stipula did make a run of Graphite pens quite some time ago.

The Graphite pens are made of grey marbled resin, so not celluloid, and the one Stipula Graphite know to me is the Florentia.

Mine has the sterling ring and a Titanium 1.1 nib.

I bought mine quite some time ago, sometime later Chatterley's also had some of these, now out of stock.

By the way, a lesser known Stipula but the Suprema is a lovely pen, also to use. It's a sort of souped up Ventidue, with amber celluloid and I find it's very elegant.

In it's first version trim was completely in silver, second run Stipula changed to chrome.

The section is however celluloid, a big plus vs the metal section of the 22.

TheFairyCircle, your collection is growing along a beautiful path, both aesthetically and for the rarity of the models. Really stunning!

Sansenri, I confirm my impression that you do not have a pen collection, but a physical encyclopedia of modern, classy fountain pens! Congratulations, and thank you for taking the time to share.

This is my Graphite, bought somewhere at end 80's.

Body is marked "Stipula Graphite", the section is black and has a serial number, therefore I think it was a LE; mine is n° 081 as visible in the picture.

Ring and clip are in silver, and partly oxydated .....

fpupulin and Sansenri: I must confess that the thought of Sansenri having a magic fountain pen hat or a fountain pen blackhole has come across my mind numerous times :D .

The Stipula of the 80's - 90's I own:

Etruria 343 the smallest of the Etruria, the same Graphite of my previous post and a very rare LE in ebonite, dedicated to a painter died in year 1895. This LE is from 1995 and is the 10th of 100 pens. Size is bigger than Graphite, ring and clip also in silver but very different as design. It was sold in a nice wooden box with the reproduction of a famous paint of this painter. Somewhere I should have keept that box.

One more LE they did in 1994 again for a local artist. this is the 18th of 130.

The pen look similar to the Florentia posted by Sansenri.

Bellissime penne, fabri00!!!

Really beautiful, and with that special flavor of history and art... Truly amazing! Thank you for posting them.

I tried to understand who the painter died in 1895 was, and also deciphering what I guess should be his signature on the pen body, but I failed... Can you tell us who the painter was to deserve such an impotent and unique pen? Thank you in advance

Grazie fpupulin.

The ebonite one was in memory of Silvestro Lega, 1826-1895.

The second was in memory of Melozzo da Forlì 1438-1494.

The pens were commisionated to Stipula from a local pen shop. The owner was a good friend and one of the sources of my pens, and I bought those LE from him.

At that time Stipula and few years earlier also Visconti were at the beginning of the activity.
