Man I hate being right.

 

Black plated nibs are just NEVER a safe bet.

Yeah black plating never lasts on pretty much any metal. Even DLC, which is arguably the best black kind of treatment, eventually shows wear.

 

It was something I had to think about when I bought my Conklin All American in Brownstone. I didn't want a black clip and nib, but I loved everything else about the pen, so I deal with the knowledge it will eventually look rough. But it was 70 bucks...on a 400+ dollar pen, I'll pass...
