I have to go with this Nakaya that I just picked up at the Baltimore Pen Show. I love the color scheme (which reminds me of a Milky Way candy bar), the bamboo theme, and the way the design was even carried onto the section.

Haha...reminds me of of that scene from Seinfeld when the guy offers a lifetime of coffee as compensation to Kramer, and before that guy can say further Kramer cuts in and says "I'll take it."

 

Beautiful pen by the way. I can see what joy it would bring to one to use such a pen.

Until this pen, I could easily, and always did, say: I don't like Maki-e.

 

Now, I must say, this one is of utmost beauty, and certainly the most beautiful pen I have ever seen.

I have what I think are some lovely-looking pens, but this one I'm going with because I just really like handling it and looking at it, as well as writing with it. It's a Conway Stewart 85L, from 1957 through 1963 or so. I hope you can see some of the chatoyance in the photos. The gold veins with the pearly green just rings my chimes, for some reason.

I look at it more than I write with it, but so far I have not noticed any change in appearance and I have not seen any real scratches. I am sure if it received more casual use, being tossed on a desk, etc, it might get scuffed a bit, but I am pretty careful with it.
