Diamine Honey Burst

(dry light orange)

Honey Burst is a rather pretty yellow-orange ink with nice shadings. It might be a bit too light for daily writing. The colour is actually quite true to the name. Sadly it's a rather dry ink. (I have the impression that Diamine's yellow-orange inks all tend to be dry: Autumn Oak - the driest ink in the world ever, Marigold, Golden Sands, etc.)

Thanks for the review! Your penmanship is a pleasure to see, as usual, and the comparison with like colours is great. Interesting to see all the railroading in your writing sample on Rhodia paper.

Have you tried Diamine Golden Honey? That is one ink that is so dry, I couldn't use it in my Delike Alpha fitted with an EF nib, and ended up have to put Honey Burst in that pen instead to get it to write. I think that says something about the two inks relative dryness.

I endeavour to be frank and truthful in what I write, show or otherwise present, when I relate my first-hand experiences that are not independently verifiable; and link to third-party content where I can, when I make a claim or refute a statement of fact in a thread. If there is something you can verify for yourself, I entreat you to do so, and judge for yourself what is right, correct, and valid. I may be wrong, and my position or say-so is no more authoritative and carries no more weight than anyone else's here.

Great review and the colour is very true on my monitor fwiw.

It railroads like mad for me too (unless I'm using a vintage firehose) but I still love it. A really gorgeous shader.

Eeek, that sounds painful to use!

Wondering if the ink needs to be in a wetter pen, or have something like a drop of Photo-flo added to make it more lubricated. It is a really attractive color (I might actually have found an orange ink I can tolerate!), and was more legible on my screen than you maybe gave credit for it being.

Thanks for the review. And, well, possibly not....

  • 1 year later...

Over at the German PenExchange forum we had a challenge called #31coloursofseasonautumn where I also showed some shots of this ink.

I got a sample of this ink and liked it so much that I bought my own small 30 ml bottle in the meantime.

Well that's just gone onto the wishlist! I hadn't really looked at the guitar series because I didn't think much of the one that I tried (can't even remember which one it was, but it was very dry) but this looks beautiful - and perfect for a pen I hope will be arriving any day now.

Haven't tried that one, but I really like Pelham Blue Burst a lot.  Still trying to make up my mind about Tobacco Sunburst; I haven't tried the sample of Desert Sunburst I got when I first ordered the other two.

Ah. Tobacco Sunburst - that was the one I wasn't very keen on. I thought the Desert Sunburst was very like other inks I already had but liked Pelham Blue. I might get this one and perhaps the dark pinky one (Cherry?) as I seem to be liking that sort of colour this winter.

This is gorgeous! Totally gonna add it to my fav list on goulet

I am the tarot reading, bookworm, whiskey drinking, witchcraft practicing, old fashioned writing, aunt Beasty in my family and I love it. Tarot readings for sale or trade, especially ink as I've lost all of my pen stuff from a bad burglary last year. And I need penpals! Anyone interested, please PM me!
