Parker 25 Photo Thread

Hi, Folks!

Thought I would start a thread on the very common but durable Parker 25. There are quite a few variations over the long run and I would be pleased to see them.

This is a Parker 25 Flighter brushed stainless steel fountain pen c. 1975-1979. The 25 was introduced as a low price point pen to appeal to new and young buyers. The design is a departure from the long line of 75 derivatives with its unusual barrel shape, rectangular clip and plastic emblem on the clip tab. The cap is stamped PARKER on the front and MADE IN ENGLAND on the back. Initially just a Flighter model selling for $10.00 with converter and a matching ballpoint for $6.00, Parker added a rollerball pen in 1981.

Thanks!

A very durable range, I have all five types (Fountain Pen. Roller Ball. Ballpoint, Pencil and Fibre Tip). All get used apart, of course, for the Fibre Tip.

It looks more modern than most of what Parker sells today. It seems modern in the same sense that Lamy 2000 seems modern.

Jim - Love the font on the box in your photo!

This color scheme always reminded me of 1980's BMW motorcycles, white with blue in the emblem.

Hi, Brian,

Thanks! Wow - the white one is supposed to be very rare.

Hi, Brian,

Not too hard to find. This one came from an antique show but they show up on eBay occasionally.

The flighter with orange accents and section, on the other hand... Hen's teeth.

And just a display box with all varieties of converters and nibs from XS to italic, and the remarkable variety in 'blue' shells.

These are my Parker 25 fountain pens I acquired recently. The green one with the breather hole in the nib is an older model than the other ones.

It's interesting that the older pens have a "flat top" on the cap.

I wrote with a 25 for years (purchased when it was new) and it was a very good writer and very reliable.

I like the Parker 25, it's a reliable workhorse, never lets me down even if left unused for several weeks.

However, it's not a very pretty pen, utilitarian and functional. The nib is a stumpy little affair too, with a kind of semi wraparound, a bit like the 95, but again not aesthetically pleasing. Parker really went to one extreme with this design.

I do like them though, and enjoy writing with them too. So I guess that's at least 75% of why I'm taken by the good old 25!

It's the slightly awkward stubbyness of the 25 that I like! It's not an elegant pen, but it does it's job and is pretty comfortable to hold. That counts for a lot to me!

I found a fab 25 FP / BP set in a special tin at Greenwich Market a couple of years ago. I've posted it in FPN before, but I think it's worth adding to this thread, as a repository of Parker 25 images.

Indeed, it is! I've never seen another besides these two.

Although there is this one with company logo from the Dutch company that imported them. Upper pic is a complete P25 set with box, sleeve and paperwork from that firm and upper left the white P25 with irm logo, the other pic shows it in detail post-30818-0-18095100-1550255176_thumb.jpg

Inkysloth, I love that box!

I promised some better shots of the oranges - here's my edc fitted with a sonnet nib, using orange ink from Akkerman.
Don't worry, I've kept the original nib and feed. It's on the second pic, with biro/pencil and fibre tip.

Anyone thinking P25 were only made in England / UK ? So did I until I found these. One bought in Singapore, one from Australia. Both matte black, indistinguishable from UK/England made matte black.

Both made in AUST . And until now I've found no information whatsoever about them.

Hi all,

Shaughn - Thanks for the upload of the AUST matte black P25s, excellent, super rare, especially in matte black. I've recently had a customer send me photos of a flighter made in AUST, also bought in Singapore neck of the woods! The story I heard is they were a TAX dodge to have them made in Australia. The parts were made in the UK, shipped down under, assembled and stamped as made in AUST.

Matte white with blue stripes are sort after, but plain matte white are very rare, I only have two.

Thank you Noyko for recommending my site;
