Thanks for the video! I have decided that it is just too dry and fine for my tastes. My bank account is happy

It appears that’s it’s not available to order online in the UK ... I ordered mine from Penworld.eu which is in the Netherlands .. but none of the usual UK online stores Wheelers for instance have it listed or available.

They have it. Great store. Nice and efficient service.

Thank you for posting the helpful link above.

I wholeheartedly agree that Fritz Schimpf is in every respect an outstanding stationery store.

Their service for me has been exemplary in all respects.

I got mine from Wheelers, also trading as Pen Sense, but I got it by emailing them and asking for it specifically. Excellent service and it arrived next day.

Ah that’s interesting, I kept checking Wheelers website and presumed they didn’t have it. Plus I was on the Mont Blanc Gb online store list to be notified when it came in. However the message went from “out of stock” to this pen is not available online. So I went with Penworld.eu can’t fault them either free next day delivery with UPS from the Netherlands. They seem to have a better stock of the MB inks too.

Apparently these 149s are selling like hotcakes. My local B&M can’t get them out the door fast enough.

Is yours a different B&M or were you jesting 😂

I'd love to hear some reports from others about how these nibs wear-in over time and how the spring changes as the nibs break-in. On every other flex nib that I know of in the old style, they take a little bit of use to "warm up" and then they stay that way for a while until they eventually wear out. I'm curious how this one is going to go. Mine is past any reasonable break-in at this point and it's pretty nice in terms of flex and controllability (it has "loosened up" a little and become a bit more responsive).

It would seem that MB issues the 149 in two versions (the black version costing much less) but is not giving those wo prefer the 146 the same choice. Only the super-expensive gold-flecked version seems to be available. Bummer, because I’d prefer the 146 because the size fits my hand better _and_ the flex nib on the 146 is broader, stiffer, and more suitable for daily writing than the 149 nib. Oh, well.

Just back from my reseller and I saw the 146 Golden leaf but with the normal nib, not the flex and the 149 with the flex nib. I took some photo:

To be honest I haven't been really impress by the 146 golden leaf. It is pretty heavy as Solitaire but don't find the work on golden leaf so exceptional. When you see the pen away, it seems little bit rubbish to my mind.

As ever, your high resolution fountain pen images are highly appreciated.

The 149 flex nib images are especially interesting to me.

You've candidly mentioned that the gold leaf 146 didn't make a favorable impression on you.

Was that due to the craftsmanship? The design? The concept?

I respect your experience and connoisseurship, therefore it would help me to better understand the nature of your assessment.

Thank you so much for the images!

Thank you Cyrille for the photos!

I suspect the 146 Gold Leaf is a disappointment with the Ruthenium nib attached, wished your first glimpse of this model had the golden Expression nib may it had made a different impression on you.

I personally loved the heft and darkness of the black lacquer, but what sold me at the end was seeing the gold shimmer when you hold the pen vertically under strong light. When the pen is horizontal or flat it doesn't show in 3D as much :)
