A New M805 Family All Of A Sudden

Dear Forum,

 

glad I found you - And I am your new member and maybe contributor to others that are on the quest for nice pens.

 

I have owned a silver/black Pelikan M805 for ages, it was "the" pen I decided to buy when I was thinking that should take care of any word I write and so my (in my terms) expensive pen should me remind me.

Same as with my watch, that I bought to remind me of how precious time is. (So the watch was precious, too)

 

And now, all of a sudden and surprisingly I went into growing a M805 family in just 1 week!

 

By coincidence, I found a M805 Demonstrator that I immediately fell in love with on the bay. The seller lives close by, so I went there and owned this wonderful pen. I was happy, although this pen being a M805 didn't "add" something to the pen I used already.

And while I was at the seller's place, she (owning thousands of pens and even writing books about) told me about the M815 Metal Stripe limited edition that would be THIS special pen arriving soon.

 

Actually, I ended up with ordering a M815 that arrived Friday.

 

So I made it to three M805 in one week - And the point is, I feel every single one has a right to exist next to each other.

 

What do you think, would you buy 3x the same pen - Or do you feel it's three different pens? Please find my picture attached

Well, at least I have different nibs, M and F on them..

 

Let me know whether this is the start of an addiction or still normal?

It seems you have found a pen that suits your hands and writing. I see no problem in owning multiples of the same model and I have several M600s in different colors. If you do want to try a different brand I highly recommend you look at the Pilot 823; a great nib and a pen that just "feels right."

Yessss! Exactly, OMG this is a guessing - Is she so popular among pen-enthusiasts? She was actually very nice and dedicated a lot of time for me...

You live close by to one of the most seriously reliable German pen retailers.

This may be your luck, or perhaps not...!

I've bought many of my pens from her. She is a Pelikan expert, but has many other pens and has a collection of her own If I am not mistaken.

She is certainly highly regarded in this forum.

Buying multiples of the same pen or similar pens is not uncommon. I have over a dozen MB 149s at any given time. For Pelikan I have 3 M800 green demo pens from the early 1990s. Just like them so I bought a few when I found a decent deal.

You have three different pens................you do have different nib widths....of course.

 

I don't care for the 800, in I don't like the modern nail nib. Would buy a W.Germany 800 because of the great regular flex nib.

If I had such a nib, would buy a few of the pretty 800's....with out the nail nib.

 

Ah, Ha....the 600 is lighter, nimble pen with good girth, and will take a semi-flex vintage nib.....a great pen. Very, very many pretty ones. Even more pretty ones than the 800.

 

Hummm already a week into it, and you don't have a 400NN semi-flex OF in Tortoise ..........sigh neither do I. Have two '50's tortoises and a '90's one in 400.

Somehow a 400nn a medium-long pen, holds more ink than any other Pelikan by far.

The reason it gets the End of the World is coming grab only one pen, grab.

 

Need to get good to better paper, so the ink can dance....but a pack or a ream of good to better paper every time you have bought three inks, and you will not fall behind the power curve.

Or every time you buy a new pen................in my case, I should have done that with a used pen.....buy good or even better paper.

Totaly interchangeable with M805 as both holds monotone rhodium plated nibs. M800 equipped with same size dual color nib.

All M8xx nibs will fit the M815.

Well, I would say they are not exactly the same pens, and even if they were, they are still not so many. Say you are really fond of these M8xx ¿wouldn't you want to have one loaded with, say, a "standard" color (blue, black...) and another one with a highlithing one (i.e. reddish)? I know I do -and for this you must have more than one pen, don't you?

 

On the other hand, I have to ask you, instead of the other way around: I feel "standard" M8xx a bit unbalanced and top-heavy but then, that M815 of yours, which I felt was better balanced the very few seconds I could test it, was, maybe, a bit too heavy overall (and considerably more expensive). You have the pleasure to use them both extensively so, what's your opinion?
