Question For Credibility Of This Seller

Hey guys & gals,

Just want to know regarding a seller in Ebay by the name of penpen avenue.

Has anyone bought an item from this seller? They have 100% feedback and that is a good thing but I am totally curious about the price.

Basically, I am interested in replacing my Sailor 1911 / Profit Standard with a 1911 / Profit Large since the Standard is a little bit small for me.

Probably some of you can attest that PenSachi as a store gives a low price regarding Japanese pens and they sell the 1911 L at $225, however penpen avenue has the same pen listed at $153.

Which brings me the ultimate question, is the deal too good to be true?

http://www.sailor.co.jp/lineup/fountainpen/11-2021 with M nib:

In Japan, you can buy this pen for $120 - most probably, sellers buy it for 80-100.

Same for the "silver" trim pen.

Now you can imagine the profit of PenSachi.

"Probably some of you can attest that PenSachi as a store gives a low price regarding Japanese pens"

Haha, funny.

Ignoring your unwanted sarcasm, I find your information to be quite helpful so thanks for that.

However I don't understand, the price in the link you sent is ranging at 20000-ish Yen which equals to more or less $200?

The prices are perfectly fine, this is how much I have paid for my Burgundy Sailor 1911 Profit 21 medium nib, from a different EBay seller from Japan. There are 2 things: waiting for about 2-3 weeks to arrive from Japan, also no warranty/not worth to send it back if any issues.

Great information that this price is fine.

I am aware that these sellers will not provide warranty so I guess it's a risk in it's own with the lower price.

I ordered a Pilot E95S from PenPen Avenue near the end of December. It was shipped promptly, but tracking shows that it has been stuck in Los Angeles since January 4. The seller has initiated an inquiry with Japan Post, and I have started one with the US Postal Service. Yoshiyuki Takada of PenPen Avenue has been very responsive, and his English is excellent. He has offered to refund my money, but I'm inclined to wait a bit longer to see if the package can be located.

I had a similar experience with a Montblanc R et N 1906 ebonite coming from Europe. Tracking showed it getting as far as US Customs in Chicago, and it ended up having been stolen there. The seller graciously replaced the pen.

One other observation: respected seller cool-japan has a note on his items that there have been long delays getting packages through Los Angeles.

Rationalizing pen and ink purchases since 1967.

Their prices seem in line with the market, it might be interesting to wait for an ebay 15 - 20% coupon.

Thanks for the response to all, now I can go on and sell my 1911S then plan on getting the 1911L.

And when do they usually have that discount? it would slash the price quite nicely if I buy it

That's a rough experience you got there and thank goodness the seller is trustworthy (and the feedback ratings shows)

It's quite random, I usually get an email or check discount sites like dealnews (no affiliation), you have to distinguish between site wide and vendor specific discounts.

Update: my pen arrived safely the day after my previous post. There was no tracking information available from January 4 until the day of delivery.

Again, I am impressed with the seller's responsiveness and courtesy. I will definitely order from him again.
