I wonder if Richard didn't mean "allowing it to slide on the film"? At any rate his hearing must be better than mine, I cannot hear micro-scratches. Taping a microphone to the film seems a bit extreme. Even without that, Richard Binder's method works really well, I give up on trying to find shortcuts.

Still puzzling over the smoothing of micro-mountains :unsure: but Richard's method for rounding inner margins was a revelation :D

I would imagine that he is referring to burrs that can occur when sharpening/polishing any metal like scissors, knives, straight razors, etc. I would suggest you try watching videos on how to sharpen kitchen knives, straight razors, or wood working chisels and the gentle motion of how to take off the burr. There are plenty that you can find on YouTube but one I would recommend is by Korin on sharpening Japanese style kitchen knives.
