Old, Red, And Anonymous...

Hello all,

I came across this old, red, and anonymous pen at a flea market a while back. It caught my eye because of the bright color and unusual pattern on it. Ive seen plenty of marbled, striated, and pearlescent patterns, but Ive never seen one quite like this. It reminds me of vintage linoleum flooring. Unfortunately, there is no writing on it anywhere, save for the nib which is stamped (rather dubiously) Warranted 14K.

Any ideas as to who the maker might be?

Kind regards,

Eric

I've seen clips like that before, but I seem to remember that a bunch of the third and fourth tier had clips made by companies who made clips for a bunch of the lower brands. It's cool material. How's the nib itself?

Looks like a Depression Era special. Probably sold at a 5&10 store. Glad it survived and that it's been rescued. Wish I could help with the identification.

Thanks AAAndrew. Yes, I think Ive seen similar clips on some of the David Kahn (Wearever) sub-brands.

As for how it writes? A dip test shows it to be...

That's a pretty pen. Glad you've got it up and running.

A friend of mine tipped me off a few years ago that some of the third and fourth tier pens can still have decent nibs on them.

Thanks everyone. I’ll post some more pictures once I clean it up a bit. I don’t think I’ll use it as a writer, but it’ll make for a beautiful display piece.

Best,

Eric
