What's Your Most Recent Mb Purchase? 2019 Edition

I was lucky enough to score two more bottles of the JFK ink at a very reasonable price. As much as I like this ink, I cannot bring myself to pay the $85.00 or more asking price that is being advertised on various sites.

 

This should last me a couple of years.

I just got, probably way too excited, over my soon to be acquisition.

 

Well first and actually last year I acquired a heritage collection spider metamorphosis rollerball. I decided on rollerball due to need of the ease and because chemo Ive had to have has left me with pretty bad neuropathy.

 

But the more exciting thing is I thought I had lost out the chance to get a Homer FP. Found out today Jerry at MB Atlanta was able to get one for me.

I may have been able to get one other ways but I like to purchase the pens through Jerry at MB Atlanta as it a relationship I have developed.

It's an ef nib. Writes very nicely with a decent bit of bounce to the nib. I like the green colour. Montblanc should bring that back for the 144/5 and 146

EF nibs are great writers. On a 342, it must be a joy to use.

I agree with CS388's comment above, they are indeed “excellent hard working pens”.

Received an email yesterday morning notifying me that the Martele I ordered in July has come back from the mothership with its new OB nib and it will be shipped to me shortly. I can hardly wait! Pics when it gets here...

I actually just bought a great condition 1970s 149 with an EF nib... Very excited to start writing with it, but first I need to clean the old ink out of the pen and give it some TLC >

Late last year I dropped my 146 Solitaire EF, and it landed on the nib damaging the delicate tines beyond repair. Sent it to MB repair Canada and ordered a new 18K EF nib for it. When I got it back, it lacked the level of architect cut line variation of my original EF nib, so I called MB repair and they agreed I could send it back and they would send me another one. A few weeks later I called MB repair center and they said they are waiting for their Mastercraftsman in Germany to finish working on my nib. Thy used the term mastercraftsman, no kidding. It arrived a couple of weeks after that and it is one of the finest nibs I've used. It is finer than my Lamy Safari EF and Pilot Falcon SF which i considered to be pretty fine. To my delight this EF is slightly stubbish in that the cross stroke line is even finer than the already very fine down stroke. So when I do a cursive L or H, the downs stroke lines look slightly broader and wetter than the side horizontal strokes, even in such an already fine line I can get line variation. Just love the nuance in the line it makes! love my 146 Sterling Soitaire pinstripe EF even more now with this incredible EF nib.

Santa left me quite a load of ink. I actually bought this ink in several lots last year, but due to shipping delays it all arrived this year while I was on holiday so I am counting it in 2019!

Hi guys, as requested here are some writing samples.

 

Photo taken earlier today with MB Permanent Blue ink. Notice the very subtle line variation.

 

Photo taken this evening comparing the 146 EF line to my Lamy Safari EF and Pilot Falcon SF. Inks used are Parker Quink Blue in the MB and Lamy, and MB Burgundy Red in the Pilot.

My celluloid 146 has arrived! Flat ski slope feed, FLEXY 14C broad nib. Cap has a bit of shrinkage as the bands are a little loose but that seems to be the only issue. Already have an email out to Brad Torelli to get a quote to secure the bands! Working on uploading the pictures, just have to shrink the file size!
