Well it looks I picked up a rather interesting find. Looks to be a very early resin 149 14C grooved face and shank with a Made in Germany stamped cap. Anyone see one of these in the wild before? Ill include pictures as soon as I receive it!

Also I picked up a 146r from the early 90s from a former montblanc dealer last week. I think I might have a problem.

Yes, the problem is only two hands and not enough money. 😁

So far, a Montbalnc Rouge et Noir 1906 version with F nib, another Montblanc 1912 (just love it too much) and a very rare Montblanc 342G with DEF nib (comes with blue cap top).

Pics please. Sounds like a solid start to 2019.

Sorry for the poor lighting and picture quality

The new 1912 is still on the way, right now what we have is a 342G from 1950s, and the Rouge et Noir & 1912 looks like from the 1920s :P

Thank you for posting the images for all to injoy.

The 3-42 G attracts my attention.

May I please ask what nib size it is?

The 3-42 Gs on my writing desk are outstanding writers.

I hope that all of your acquisitions will become cherished writers in 2019.

You can never have too many 342s, I have three (OM, BB, OBB). Can I ask what the blue cap top signifies?

Thank you, Tom and dascott, the 342G is a DEF nib, I believe the D nib ("Durchschreibfeder" -> hard) for the 342 line comes with a blue cap top.

Also, you will see a "D" inside of the MB star, instead of a regular "M", I borrow this photo from konis (https://www.fountainpennetwork.com/forum/topic/314405-d-nib-on-a-19356-mb-221-button-filler/)

I'm falling in love with your delightful handwriting sample.

Congratulations on your Platinum 149 B!

It's writing so well for you.

Pass the cookies and share warm smiles!

Tom K.

Tom,

Thank you for your compliment.

I see you own pens of all nib sizes (even those that are not for option).

I own two 149s, one in EF and one in B. Writing with the B nib brings me joy, but at the same time it makes me treasure my EF even more.

Its like they echo with one another.

Cant imagine how strong your pens echo around you.

My 60s 149 has arrived! As suspected its very early 60s resin with a side breather hole and Made in Germany found just below the clip on the cap. Nib seems to be a F with a fantastic amount of flex. Heres a few initial pictures. From the initial flush from what I can tell this pen was either cleaned very very well or has never been inked. The body and cap are nearly perfect with the only flaw being an overly shiny splotch on the clip and slightly misaligned feed.

My new to me 60’s 149 arrived today, sadly with a stuck piston. Currently going through a soak to hopefully loosen things up. The nib seems to have a fantastic amount of flex with barely any effort. Overall the pen looks to be in amazing shape. Pictures to come soon!

Thank you for letting us know.

I hope that a long soak will do wonders.

Do you have any idea what size the nib might be?

Well my initial thought was incorrect. It’s rather cold out today so just letting it sit in room temp water for about 15 minutes did the trick! See updated post above!

Thank you for the updated post with images.

What a lovely treasure has reached you!

If the F nib writes well for you, that will be a happy conclusion.

One month ago I received a 1959 14C 149. It's been a superb writer in recent weeks.

May 2019 be a year of highly satisfactory writing with your 149!

Haha... great minds think alike!

Tried to get a Purdey. At this point, even if you had 3K to throw at Montblanc, they don't have the pen to sell it to you. Frustrating:(

This may not help, but there is one at London Heathrow airport, terminal 3, duty free. $2800

Welcome to the Fountain Pen Network Montblanc Forum!

It's very nice to have you join us from the Evergreen State.

Your 2019 acquisition is lovely.

The theme of yellow is especially attractive.

May it become a cherished writer for you in 2019 and beyond!
