Congratulations!
I have to agree with that sentiment. I have it in a CI Fine, and it’s a joy to write with. I’ve been hoping for an M800 version, but for now I’ll continue to enjoy its bigger  cousin  M805 Stresemann with a BB (modified to a BLStub by Pendleton Brown) and a backup CI fine.

The pen that started my recent buying spree finally arrived, months after I ordered it from The Nibsmith. All I had to do was cancel the order and dispute the charge with my credit card company. Then, I finally got a response to my text and emails and suddenly my order was ready to fill the next day. (Seems to be a pretty common case in the reviews of this seller that I read after ordering it.) The price was excellent and it's a lovely cursive italic custom nib, but the pleasure of it was pretty overshadowed by the hassle of actually getting it. Anyway, here it is with the matching ballpoint. It's a gorgeous pen:

Congratulations on your little beauties. In my opinion, this pen is one of the very best Pelikan releases of the last decade.

Enjoy! (And forget about the hassle.)

Oh man, that sucks! I'm sure you've already done this, but do take a picture of the packaging. I think that made a huge difference getting a UPS insurance claim I made paid a few months back. (Plus shoutout to Seattle Coffee Gear who made it all pretty painless for me.) Plus, if as I suspect you bought it thru Amazon, they're pretty good about refunding money for purchases that fail. Please let me know how it turns out. The only time I've ever had to eat the cost with Amazon was when I didn't get a receipt for a return I made at the UPS Store when Amazon had me send it back without a box with their bulk shipping return policy. It's made me much more careful about having a paper trail.

@RedPie I was really lucky that their was a thread on reddit/fountainpens from other buyers who had had similar experiences with The Nibsmith and who recommended going thru your credit card company if you couldn't get a response after the passed shipping time frames and multiple unanswered emails, texts, and phone calls . So, I knew to follow up before the 90 days Visa dispute window had passed. Over 11 weeks had elapsed, so I cut it pretty close. I thought I'd 'pay it forward' by sharing my experience with you guys.

Unfortunately, I'd already bought a replacement M605 from The Pen Boutique, who had it shipped to me before I'd even heard back from The Nibsmith. Now, I'm on the hook for their shipping charges to me and paying for the return shipping (totally fair), but thankfully I haven't inked that second pen and it's still in its original packaging.

I buy all of my pens online and have been incredibly lucky so far, even with eBay purchases and foreign transactions. I've gotten in the habit of paying with PayPal or a credit card, paying for shipping insurance, and checking ratings and online Yelp reviews before I place an order. Even with that, I missed those forum comments until after I'd bought that M605 Black Tortoiseshell.

@carola Pelikan really produced a lovely special edition with this one. I'd already bought the matching ballpoint, so I was very happy to be able to complete my set!

Oh, no!

I hope you get this resolved quickly and get your money back

(although, unfortunately, that wont make up for the hassle and the disappointment of not getting the anticipated pen!)

Everyone, thanks for the commiseration.

You hear of porch pirates but this is a first: the box was slit neatly along the bottom tape line, so it looked okay from the top.

No one in this neighborhood would have any interest in fountain pens, so it's puzzling.

New pen being sent, at no cost.  But we'll see how this works out.

Wow.  That really sucks!

Sounds as if the package was tampered with en route.  :o

I just received my first Pelikan, a 2008 M800 clear demonstrator with traditional chinese labeling. I am excited to get it inked upIMG_0598.thumb.jpeg.a797fb36d4cdac404b1c68d20c331bd8.jpegIMG_0599.thumb.jpeg.28ca1d649121ad0345419b966bd8b556.jpegIMG_0600.thumb.jpeg.8d99cb63f3d477c5e8828614818a474a.jpeg

Ripped open on the seam, pen and its box gone BUT bubble wrap still inside.  Very strange.

@tacitus I am thinking about Robert Oster Clay Red or Blue Water Ice. I think both will look good in the clear body. I don't have a good red currently inked so I am leaning toward Clay Red
