I just received this Pelikan 400nn from Japan. It was made by Merz & Krell

Congrats! A beautiful and rare find, indeed! It is one of my all-time Pelikan favorites, also very much sought after, for its quality and beauty. A robustly engineered and impeccably designed pen, having solved some weaknesses of the original 400NN. Enjoy it!

I also have one, with EF nib.

Here it is, next to my latest addition to the flock: a 100 with OBB nib

I showed this picture before of a live auction lot, but in between I found out the 4th pen from the bottom is a 481.   It took a while before I could find out exactly what it was. It has a blind cap on top of the finial. Under the blind cap is the Pelikan stamp in the plastic second dome.

I counted up my Pelikans for another thread, and have some 35 not counting BPs and MP's. I can remember crystal clear  winning my first Pelikan in a live auction, a '90's tortoise 400. And the 140 I horse swapped at the flea market.

The top BP makes it the third Pelikan BP I have, I have a 455, and a W.Germany one similar to this one on top of the picture.

The wife has the blue stripped Pelikan 400 Roller ball. That really makes me want a blue stripped FP for myself.....and a red stripped one while I'm wishing.

Aflredo and others,

With only 35 Pelikans, I'm glad I don't collect Pelikans; in there's a whole slew I didn't even know about; besides the usual suspects.

Interesting.  What's the grey capped one?

Hi Ruth, it is white not grey, the pen is the limited edition dedicated to New York (M620 city series).

Ahh, thanks!

I don't know a lot about the M620 pens.  There's only a couple I want (Piccadilly Circus and Athens), and at the moment can't afford them.... :wallbash:

I fancy an M620 ‘Chicago’ (as long as its barrel is translucent enough that one can see how much ink is left in it) but I, like you, find that I do not currently have enough ‘loose change’ to afford to buy one (if one were even ever come up for sale, that is).

In that respect I find the M620 ‘Chicago’ to be somewhat akin to the M800 ‘Brown Tortoiseshell’ from 2013 😪

I also added the green/black and the solid black versions of the 400NN M&K, but no pics of those since I still have to clean up/restore them.

~ Three Pelikan EF fountain pens arrived this morning.

They were purchased from Fritz Schimpf in Tübingen, Germany.

The year-end sale, The Vault, invited offers for pens and inks.

As it happened, the offers for these three NOS pens were accepted.

@Tom Kellie -- Very nice haul you got there!  I saw the link about the sale, but didn't think that I could afford the shipping charges from Germany even at the sale prices.

What's the purple colored one?

I can fully agree with your statement - it’s one of my favorite 4xx ever. Up in this page there’s a photo of mine. It’s an EF.

Congrats on your find and have many years of joyful writing.

Ohh!  Orthogon :puddle:

Yes! That a Pelikan M215 Orthogon EF would arrive on my writing desk in 2022 was beyond imagining, yet it happened.

When placing the offer (bid), there was little expectation of success.

I'm glad to have been wrong.

~ @inkstainedruth:

That's a Pelikan Classic Special Edition M205 Amethyst EF.

Arriving with it were an M215 Orthogon EF and a Pelikan Classic Special Edition M205 Aquamarine EF.

They were all NOS, editions offered in years past. I'd never supposed that it would be feasible to obtain any of them.

The Vault promotion was a pleasant way to close 2022. Roughly ⅓ of my offers were accepted, thus others also had nice pens coming their way.

Whatever the shipping fee from Fritz Schimpf in Tübingen might have been, it was comparatively modest.

The shipment arrived this morning with nothing damaged, making it a welcome farewell to 2022's purchases of paper, pens, and inks.

Thanks for the info.

I tend to not like translucent pens, but that one was sort of pretty.

Thank you, @stoen.

The 400NN M&K Tortoise one is one the most beautiful Pelikans, and somehow it flies a bit under the radar.

I actually saw you post and it was what triggered my hunt for this pen (I knew of it, but had kinda forgotten it until I saw your post). So, I have you to thank for reminding me of this beauty.

Enjoy yours for many years of writing too!

…and here’s a close look at the wonderful OBB nib in my “new” 100, shown in a previous post:

It’s the only OBB nib I’ve ever seen in a 100.

Inked with 4001 Violet.
