~ @mana: Thank you for this special post.

The photos bring out how special these items are.

Your taste in vintage Pelikans is inspiring.

Happy writing in 2022 and beyond!

Thank you so much! :) And also, happy writing in 2022 and beyond to you also! May the lines from your pens be flowing, fit for purpose, and never-ending.

Those M605 sure are pretty... 😍 Another bird is joining my flock, after a long while. As in, it has been ages since I last bought vintage Pelikans (last major purchase took place... over two years ago?). Waiting to receive the following lot that I bought last week:

  • Pelikan 100N with a fluted trim ring and clip
  • Pelikan No.4 pen stand
  • Two Pelikan ink bottles
  • Three unused Pelikan erasers

I am chuffed about this because all items are pretty much mint (came from another collector), price was more than fair (basically got that set for the going price for the pen), and also, that pen stand is my third, and also, a third variant. I already had a similar one but with a metal insert in the base plate, then another which must have been made during the war (rather more crude finish and thinner material), and now that one which is kind of like an ideal version of it, material thickness and finish is great, imprints and detailing are immaculate and crisp, zero flaws, etc.

Pictures are from the auction, used with permission.

Oh, also, could someone update the title of this thread to "Adding To The Flock - 2019 + 2020 + 2021 + 2022"? :D

What an amazing pen and stand, @mana! Congratulations!

And good to see you posting again... Lately I haven't seen you around much!

~ @mana: The plain truth was that I was thrilled to see your images.

Why?

Because I'm in the process of acquiring a similar fountain pen, primarily for the nib.

I've returned to look at and enjoy your photos several times.

The fluted trim ring and clip are especially nice details.

May I assume that the nib features the script version of Pelikan?

And then there were ten... Thanks to Christof's ministrations, the Ibis writes again! Whole piston transplant.

Very nice, sensen!  What does the CN on the nib stand for?  I don't have any really old Pelikans so I'm not familiar with that marking.

Done.  At 70 pages (but now halfway through 2022), this thread might need to be retired and a new one started for 2023.

~ @inkstainedruth : It may designate a nib which is Chrome Nickel.

Thanks!  I wasn't familiar with the designation -- all of my birds are modern except for one from the 1950s, and most of them have steel or 14K nibs except for one of the two M405s, which has a rhodium plated gold nib (the other one has a regular two-toned 14K nib in order to get a B nib from the vendor because of a Rhodium-plated B nib wasn't available) -- not absolutely "correct", but I'm not a "C-worder" and the nib width for the pen was more important to me than it being "minty minty".

Thanks! Life has kept me busy, but as the start of my summer vacation inches closer I might start posting more. Will be heading to the US for July, most likely staying in Greenwich, CT. Should be fun... well, as fun as it can be, helping my better half prep for a move to Finland... that is a story for another time, let's just say that the last six or so years have been extremely rough for us in so many ways that it ain't funny. Our love has miraculously prevailed but it would be great to get a bit of happiness and sunshine after all of this.

Yes, it has a monoline script nib with a fair bit of flex, will post writing samples and pics once I have actually received it. :) This will be my... tenth post war 100N. Yes, I do like them quite a bit :D

It´s a chrome nickel steel nib. They were used a lot for the Ibis pens, mine has one, too.

Thanks! Yes, Chrome Nickel nib, nice and smooth, possibly between F and M sized, might be called slightly flexible; since I write with a light hand I get a feeling of comfort with a little give, just like the 14k on my 140. It's getting along great with GvFC Gulf Blue.

I'm happy to hear that you and your better half will be reunited! Having lived for 3 years apart from my wife (and one of those was in different countries on different sides of the pond), I know very well how hard that is!

Enjoy your vacations and enjoy this moment!

I'm looking forward to seeing your posts!

Thank you for lovely photos, @Tom Kellie.

I agree that the hue does not draw much attention to itself--so little attention that I often overlook this pen in my own rotation. You have inspired me to take my own Taupe M205 out and ink it up after quite some time. Its red counterpart seems to garner much more attention, but the Taupe does have a distinct elegance.

The M20x pens are indeed nimble and well-balanced, and create a pleasant writing experience.
