You may find all kinds of things, but what most of us will actually see in real life, is summed up here:

https://www.pelikan-collectibles.com/en/Pelikan/Models/Historic-Pens/100N/index.html

Of course, it is one of the best vintage Pelikan related sites and it frequently gets updated with new findings - thanks for pointing at it, @carola. It’s one of the best places to get a quick, systematic and correct overview. I also put reference at it whenever I find appropriate. It’s kind of online “alphabet” of Pelikan. The vintage wholesale catalogue scans I’ve mentioned before can also be found there.

https://www.pelikan-collectibles.com/en/Pelikan/Catalogues/index.html

IMHO, another one of the best Pelikan sites is this forum and I see considerable efforts being made, by quite a few members, to cast some light on at least some of “all the kinds of things you may find in real life” without disregarding, and trying to understand why they are there.

It’s not that easily searchable, but it’s worth it.

🙂

Here are some “N birds” of my flock:

Top: a “red tortoise” 101N, also designated as 100N in some official sources

Mid: a 101N - a rather common model (“brown tortoise”, “all brown” in some sources)

Bottom: a rather rare “dark tortoise” 101N

Hope this post can help.

I’m planning on adding a Pelikan Classic in Cognac to my small flock. It seems the Cafe Creme wants another friend.  It demanded I get the brown tortoise.  I did it, I ordered the Cognac. It is my Pi-Day pen.

I need knowledge from those who know the answer. Can I put a different brand of nib in a Pelikan M200?  I’m thinking an unbranded Edison nib for instance.

Are you thinking of swapping the whole nib-&-feed unit from an Edison pen in to the body of your M200?

Or ‘only’ of swapping an Edison nib on to the Pelikan feed-unit and then screwing that unit back in to your M200’s body?

(I have no personal experience of trying to do either of those things, but it seems to me like a distinction that would be good to make in order to get the most-useful answer to your question.)

Pelikans continue to grow in number. Here there is the last arrived (a blue marbled M205):

In this case the F nib writes quite well (usually they are too broad for me).

I was hoping a swap of the nib and feed. Both are threaded for easy removal. I could try the one I bought for an Opus 88 Picnic pen, even though it has ink in it, with a Pelikan M2xx I already have. Or just compare them.

And then there were two little chicks! This pretty blue M400 just landed on my doorstep to join its vintage 400 cousin. Am I now officially allowed to talk about my 'flock'? ;)

Two make a pair.

Three are a flock. 😉

But as you have a pair now, I am sure they will soon be breeding...

:lticaptd: My only concern, though, is that the age difference between these two may mean that one of them will get arrested! LOL

Hmmm.  Now I'm trying to remember if there's a venery term for peli[c]ans, the way there for other birds and animals: a pride of lions, a pod of whales, a murder of crows....

I have a book on the topic but I don't remember offhand where it is in my house.... :wallbash:

In the meantime though, I did a quick Google search and found this:

https://www.jellyfish.com/en-gb/training/blog/collective-nouns

and apparently a group of pelicans is ALSO (like whales) called a pod....  (You may or may NOT want to know what a group of wombats is called....)

This perfect pair will soon attract some other “cousins” to join…

🙂

My flock started once upon a time with a pair of thirties’  pens: a red tortoise 100N and a black green 100, both inherited from my two grandfathers…

That artwork is part of the set?  Cool.  And for that price?  Abso-frigging-lutely cool.  That may very well make you sumgai of the week, alfredop!

Flock didn't grow, but did change.  Traded a duplicate brown vintage 400 for a Green vintage 400. First green in my collection. PXL_20220323_141239156.thumb.jpg.495ea7c4443a14a33a9f8effbe864984.jpg

a Green vintage 400

Is it a vintage 400 with a 400NN nib or possibly an early M400 perhaps? Great looking pen, nevertheless!

The binde says, it is from the 1950s. *squinting* Or the picture is deceptive. But I would say 1950s.
