@LyaT Indeed, it was not so much the wet feel, but rather the saturation and depth of my inks that was missing for me. Kon-peki now looks much closer to the color I know and love (it's actually even darker than that, which is why I'm thinking about getting the nib just a tiny bit thinner and drier).

 

About M805 nibs, seeing as how Pelikan nib tuning is a manual process and (for better or worse) no two nibs are the same, I doubt there's a pattern here. Probably just a coincidence.

 

Nice 600 collection! The green look particularly compelling in your picture.

Received the M205 Blue marbled, very disappointed, almost as ugly as the Petrol it replaced. Looks nothing like the pictures, which show a nice, even marbling like the gold, brown and older-style green and blue but more like the Petrol with some dark patches alternating with the marbling (though not as much dark area as the Petrol) and the blue is also rather muted, not the vibrant color in the pics.

Thank you all for comments.

For a fountain pen, it was far from in good condition.

As it needed repairing, I was able to get at "reasonable price" for the model.

Fortunately, pelican engraving has been preserved well, if not best.

I restored the pen and now it is fully working.

I added a M805 Blue Dunes with a fine nib.  It is my first (and probably last) M80X special edition.  It is in rotation with a 400 with a fine nib as well. Both are filled with 4001 Royal Blue.

A new (old) pen joins the flock. It's a 101N tortoise mother of pearle. The strange thing about this pen is that the cap has a different colour (tortoise) than the body (mother of pearle). According to the guy that sold me the pen (on internet) this cap belongs to this pen. He is a reputable seller, but I couldn't find anything on this pen. The pen is in great condition, even the ink window is very clear. So this might be a Frankenpen, but it looks very pretty. In the photo's I've included the M101N tortoise, that looks simular to the cap of this pen.

Not a frankenpen but maybe produced from two different batches of material because the cap and and the body once belonged to two different pens of the same kind and were joined later?

Strange to say, I was about to post the same pen (model 101N) (tortoiseshell/ tortoiseshell) to dating thread.

 

The cap of my pen has a different color (tortoiseshell) from the sleeve, too.

IMO, the original color of the sleeve is (was) tortoiseshell like that of cap tube. But, the barrel under the sleeve is coated with white paint (glue?). So, the sleeve looks brighter due to white layer under it and something like “mother of pearl (MOP)”. But, in my 101N, white paint under the sleeve has come off over time in spots, where it looks like tortoiseshell, otherwise looks like MOP. Please refer to my page.

 

I think your 101N is original and in a good condition😄.

 

As for M101N, there is no white layer under the sleeve. So, the sleeve looks greenish, as the green barrel color shows through. Different from original 101N, the cap tube is lined with green plastic,

 

so that the cap and body look the same.

 

It is fun to look into the detail of pens and to know how vintage and modern pens had (have) been finished up.

Thanks Mana, Carola and Tacitus, I'm happy to learn that I didn't overpay for a frankenpen, but that it is a original 😀. And interesting to learn that the difference in colour is caused by the white paint or glue that was used. You can see the difference in colour clearly on Tacitus page (beautifull pens by the way).

No kidding. That's nice handwriting right there...a tiny bit of stubbish-ness to that nib, it seems?? Or you just doing that by varying the pressure on the nib a bit?
