Adding To The Flock

The most recent addition to my personal Pelikan breeding program:

Pelikan 101N Lizard from (probably) 1938.

There is the old 4 chicks logo on the box and the inkwell, but on the pen´s cap there seems to be a post 1937 two chicks logo (very hard to see because of the pattern).large.20210727_092037.jpg.a43c0752058005a5243bae37f34f9f2b.jpglarge.20210727_091940.jpg.ea4fd8522ca4f423a41dfb7964e3a9a4.jpglarge.20210727_091918.jpg.fba682d096659d32afee18009fffc6d3.jpglarge.20210727_091900.jpg.f204b0b5a10b4e637fa6d1569a09be0c.jpg

Oh my!! That's just SO pretty.

Love the presentation box and bottle too!

Thank you!

Yes, me too. Even the lock of that box still snaps shut. 😍

So you finally got that coveted lizard, huh? Congratulation, Carola. I know you must be ecstatic. 😊
(and if you're not, I'm vicariously chuffed to bits)
She's a beauty! That box makes it extra special.

What is this money pit obsession hole I have fallen into?

I am pretty ecstatic - although (or because) this Lizard is just one of three pens I got yesterday and I hardly know with which pen to start toying around. 🙈😂 (For the full story, please go over to the "impulsive acquisition" thread.)

Yowzah! 😳 Those are like in mint condition! Wow! Congrats! Straight up grail pen material there, even seasoned collectors might say so.

My congratulations, @carola! Your pen is just really amazing, no doubt! I wonder where it was kept for so many years...

Thank you.

Unfortunately, I don´t know as it came in to my favourite pen repair guy from a guy dealing with antiques. I suppose the dealer got hold of it when buying a lot at an estate sale somewhere here in Austria.

Obviously the pen was carefully used and handled with a lot of love for decades. Seeing the condition and the fact that everything is still there, it might have been the same person all along. I would have liked to say thank you for keeping the pen in a state like that and now handing it over to me.

Even if the story of this pen is not known for certain, it is still beautiful)

Congratulations on the rare acquisition. Great lizard pen set with an inkwell travel!

I must confess, I never really understood the fascination with tortoise finishes.

Until now. I get it.

My accumulation of pens is, in general, somewhat light on red, so this set is a bright addition to the palette of pen colors I own.

The redy torty is such a great looking pen. I only wish they also made it as an m800.

Indeed. There are a couple of M80x LEs I would like to see as an M60x as well (the Burnt Orange comes to mind).😃

I suppose there is always hope for the future…

Got to see an M205 Petrol Marbled at the pen and paper store today - it wanted desperately to come home with me. So I took it. 🤷‍♀️
