I wish. I won't be getting one. I simply can't justify the prices I'm seeing. I have plenty of other brown pens -- including the M800 Brown Black -- so I'll just have to manage with what I've got.

For $2K, I think I'd rather take a vacation. I'd like to see all the cities and places my M600 pens are named after. I suspect no one is going to be weeping for me for having to choose.

If I had that kind of budget, I guess I'd be collecting Montblancs instead of the bang for your buck Pelikans. Though some of those Urushi pens prices make my eyes water as well.

Honestly, after jumping thru hoops to get my M600 Violet and White with the  faulty cap replaced, the new one is starting to have trouble posting, too.

I am really sorry to hear that. I had a problem with my Turquoise and White (which also developed cracking), and a new cap solved the issues with that pen, which was replaced, BTW, quite expeditiously by Pelikan.

After repair, I am now thoroughly convinced there was a geometry problem with the original cap. This one posts flawlessly with the lightest touch.

My worked great for quite awhile, so maybe it warped with use? Hopefully yours stays perfect!

I haven't had issues with changes during use. The issues were either there from the beginning, or not at all.

I am however, as a result of the experience intentionally more careful/gentle with my white M600s, which is to me unfortunate. My impression is that Pelikan somehow, somewhere dropped the ball, quality-wise, with the white M60xs, which is, IME very much out of character for the company.

I’m not thrilled I’m having problems with my originally perfect replacement violet and white. Still, I’ve been writing a lot more with my older M800s and they’re a delight. I just removed the nib assembly to wash out some stubborn sheening ink and it reminded me why I like these better than even my work horse MB 146s. Maybe I’ll send my 14kt M800 medium nib out for a Spensarian mod since I’ve promised myself no new pens. I wonder if Mr. Mottishaw is taking in work again?

thanks @N1003U, it has achieved grail status for me by how difficult it was to get one! between covid restrictions, the first one being lost in the mail (someone out there will have a nice new toledo) and production delays.  stuck with my b and m store though and they came through.

OOF!!!

That is a gut punch. Glad you got it resolved.

This is a constant fear of mine. Actually, I worry more about it being stolen off my porch after it's delivered...because then you are well and fully out of luck (from what I understand). I have thought about having all future deliveries sent to my office to avoid the porch pirates.

Yikes! $2K for a plastic pen?

Yikes is right!  That's worse than the current prices of the old M600 Pink and White pens (which were $300 US when they were first released).

Too rich for my blood....

that's what i have set up - and the store came up with the genius plan of packing it in a bigger box making it harder to pinch unobtrusively.

I added a new M600 red striped with a fine nib.  It joins a M405 blue striped with an extra fine nib, a 400 green striped with a fine nib, and a M200 Smokey Quartz also with a fine nib.

I am super pleased with the nib on the new M600.  It writes smoothly, the line is not too wide, and it has a hint of springiness or softness to it.  I had one of the new M800 medium nibs a couple of years ago and the nib was so wide and hard (and boring) I got rid of the pen.

  • 2 weeks later...

Late last week I took delivery of this beauty (M900 Toledo):

Earlier today my wife received the M600 Green/White:

A couple of comparison pics  below, with an M400 Green/Black and the other M600 white.

And here is Hamlet approving the Toledo:

How about the Green one? "Hmm, not  so sure dad!" :)

I don't have any of the white/pastel M600s, but that picture is enough to make me want them - even if just to choose inks for them!!

Yes, they  are really nice.  Or so my wife tells me :D, since she is the one  that owns the M600s!

Your Toledo looks fantastic.

The collection of whites also look great!  It's wonderful that your wife enjoys a very nice fountain pen as well.
