A green-striped 400 with an OM nib is on its way. I expect more Pelikan purchases this year as I've pretty much decided to collect the 1950's nibs in the range EF-BB both regular and oblique.

The 1950s Pelikan nibs are superb. But, do not overlook the 30s, and 40s Pelikan nibs. They are special, and the pens beautiful, and built for the long haul.

Nope. Those Taylorix nibs are rock solid. Perfect for their intended use of writing on carbon copy paper. Not much of that around these days but still great for taking notes.

I made the mistake a couple of years ago of going to a talk at a pen show that Rick Propas and Janet Wright gave on collecting Pelikans. And after seeing some of the old 100s, I now seriously want one (especially a blue one). But they are so NOT in the budget it isn't funny.... :crybaby:

Rather strange, but back in the 1970s I used a lot of carbon paper at work. Just a shame that I didn't have a Pelikan with a Taylorix nib then. My first Pelikan came about 10 years later, an original M600 which I still use almost daily.

Added a couple of toothpicks a M300 and K300 in green/black. Boy, are those small! :)

Small but adorable. I'm curious about the ballpoint, though - does it take a standard refill or something special?

It's hard work to tell which is Old Harry when everybody's got boots on.

mine came with one from Lamy.

Oooh. Which M300 did you acquire?

The green/black, older model. It has an excellent two chicks M nib.

Ah, how nice! Thanks for the response. Enjoy. :)

Thanks.

Though, my ownership of it was short lived: I inked the M300 with Edelstein Aventurine and, naively, invited my wife to try it...

She immediately confiscated them for her collection!

But, I told her that this leaves me with a credit of 2 pens! :P

I wish I could work something like that with MY wife! 2 future pen credits! Must be nice.

My wife gifted me a quilt for Valentines, done in blue-blacks, to match my favorite flavor of ink. I have the feeling she has more "future credits" right now than I do.

Well, I didn't say she agreed to it!

But, I'm sure you can't complain and she would allow you to get a pen every now and then! ;)

There are a couple pens I still want but I have to be patient

My Sweetie has been churning out baby quilts and I didn't notice she was doing this one too... still needs finishing, but isn't it lovely! Will post pen pics when the new models are released and arrive here in Rattlesnake Junction...

Love those blue-blacks :)

  • 2 weeks later...

I should not have done it. Really should not have. But ever since picking a vintage brown tortoise over the white version, the white tortoise kept calling.

I put those two words in the search bar and up came amazon. $185 caught my eye. Gah!

Well with tax and shipping it is $200.43. But paying with Discover, I just need to remember to apply my $43 in cash back bonus to the bill and voila, the white tortoise is $157. Rohrer and Klingner Alt Goldgrün is here waiting for the pen.

It comes from an Amazon Global Seller UK. IguanaSell answered questions, so I guess they are the UK source. I hope it is a good Pelikan like it should be.
