New to my "flock" but certainly not new. Marked on the original box is the date Dec. 1940.

...box is wrong though, it is for an earlier series 100N with the stepped section. The series of pens with acrylic barrels without the telltale step at the base of the section started being produced in 1949. But regardless, that is one beautiful Pelikan. My little flock just got an addition: Pelikan 400 light tortoise from the first half of the 1950s with a slightly stubby BB nib.

I had been looking for a pen in this colour for quite some time and during the last few weeks things suddenly got going. The new kid was proudly presented to the rest of the flock and was warmly welcomed.

I thought you might want to take a peek...

Oh wow! Those usually cost quite a bit and are rare/difficult to find. Congrats on your latest addition to the flock, that is a mighty fine bird! :)

Thank you, mana!

To me, it´s the queen of the Pelikans. And yes, unfortunately they do cost quite a bit. But as I was pretty sure I would still regret it in 20 years' time if I didn´t grab the one dangling right in front of my nose... well, I grabbed it. No regret there. :D

That is a very lovely new bird, carola; it looks like your breeding program has been so far quite successful. I am still debating jumping into the vintage Pelikan market, but need to find the time to really look into what I think I want in a vintage pen.

P.S.: That looks like a very nice storage case for your flock--what color is the outside? I have a similar case (with 20 storage slots) from Venlo that makes for a very lovely display case. Such nice pens of course deserve a nice place to relax when they aren't working... :)

Thank you, N1003U!

As for the vintage pens - do jump in! You get great pens, great nibs, lots of history, lots of fun. I adore modern Pelikans as well, but my heart is with the vintage ones. And also with other vintage brands, e.g. the Eversharp Skyline or the Parker Duovac, not to mention my beautiful Centropen Barclays, although I have to add the last ones are more beauties than heart warming writers.

I found my storage cases (there is a second one matching the one in the picture) on ebay a few years ago. The wood on the outside looks like cherry tree or mahogany, the faceted edges are black and the lining has a nice cream colour. The upper tray fits nicely and smoothly and every box has 20 storage slots. The bottom side is lined with black velvet on the outside so as not to scratch any surfaces. And the hinges are also very well made. I am very content with this roosting place for my birds and all the others.

I was wondering if any of you saw this ebay listing that ended recently? I was watching it and forgot-- but it was mostly out of my curiosity anyways that I was following.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/PELIKAN-M900-AZURE-DREAM-2020-MODEL-NEW-PERFECT-18K-SOLID-GOLD-NIB-MED-A-GEM-/333625074255?_trksid=p2047675.l2557&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&nma=true&si=FMije%252Bk6ZqKhGGyyXgaNrL7YvH0%253D&orig_cvip=true&nordt=true&rt=nc

This person says it's the 2020 model. Is it actually? Or is it really a known, older Pelikan model mislabelled?

Edit: Also I have to laugh at the description of the pen being too big for women. Quite funny, though I'm not sure if that was intentional.

No, it's the Blue o' Blue model from several years ago: https://www.pelikan.com/pulse/Pulsar/en_US_INTL.FWI.displayShop.252245./souveraen-blue-o-blue

I object to the undertones in that ad, but oh well!

Thank you! It looked familiar, but I couldn't put my finger on it. Pelikan has so many LE blue pens. The description kind of reminded me of the Sheaffer Pen for Men or the Bic For Her pens, the latter of which were totally crucified in the Amazon Reviews (a funny read if you have some time).

Edit: And yes, probably totally wrong and childish for me to laugh at the description. It's pretty yikes when I read it again.

I have just taken delivery of a 100N in grey via a devious route from Germany (through Italy, where mail has been going more quickly than Germany); but, on arrival yesterday, it is evident that the seller had good reason fro describing the nib as "very scratchy" -- there is no tipping whatsoever remaining on the poor nib!

No photo -- everyone knows what they look like! The nib does appear to be very nicely flexible, so I believe it is going off to Mr. Minuskin who says he can solve my little problem for me.

This pen joins three other 100Ns: one with darker green binde, two cap rings and plain clip; one with paler green binde, fluted cap ring and clip and one tortoise (cap and binde, with black blind and cap ends.

I tried to edit my last; but it is not permitting further access...alas! Excuse my two posts, all.

Got these two recently

What's interesting is that the M650 comes out of factory with a nib grind that's very close to an architect. Makes me wish Pelikan would offer these type of special grinds on special order.
