For me a year without a new Pelikan is year not worth living. I purchased two new pens and a nib. On the flip side, sometimes taking a break from guying pens makes it all the more meaningful when you finally buy a new pen.

It's pretty similar to the all black version I've had for years, but the stitching is a lot larger.

Hear hear! Though, truth be told, I have so many Pelikans that I love, I'm not sure which one to get for my upcoming bday. Also, the events of the present make it seem a little trivial.

Happy birthday! Seems like now is an excellent time to enjoy the little things.

During the last week these two arrived

They will make company to my Grey one. All three inked:

For quite some time I avoided these, thinking they would be too small. I was terribly mistaken: they are wonderful, and I can't get enough of them now :) . Although, I must say, there is still some dispute in the house as to whom the red one belongs  .

Lovely pens. I have been leaning more and more towards trying one myself. With this endorsement, perhaps it is time to pull the trigger.

Funny, I have the same problem in our house with regard to the ownership of a red Pelikan.

Thanks!

I always leaned towards the larger birds, and they are still my favorites. But, I was also always comfortable using the smaller M200/M400. These are also very comfortable for me and their light weight and compactness makes them perfect to carry around - not to mention that they are, IMO, some of the most beautiful birds around.

By the way, if you are considering one, Stilo & Stile (in Italy) has the best prices that I've seen, and excellent service. (As usual, no affiliation, just a satisfied customer).

Thanks for the retailer tip.

I use mostly M60xs and M2xxs (and one M400) for my daily carry needs, primarily for their convenient weight and size. Sounds like the M101N is a model that I would really enjoy (I don't think I have ever even held one in my hand). I have a couple of bigger birds, and they are fun to use, especially at my desk, but I struggle to really love them like the smaller Pelikans.

If you like the smaller birds, then the M101n is probably for you.

I always favored the larger ones (even if I also love my M200s and M400s), that is why i was surprised to like the M101n so much.

Thank you, BillH!

Two of each? :yikes: Ha, then I'd be bankrupt in a hurry!

As you probably can guess, I lost the "battle" for the Red M101n :crybaby:

Now I think I need the brown tortoise one to heal my wounds  .

Thank you :) I opted to wait to see what they release next (though I have the M200 Paste-green on pre-order). I am enjoying the ones I have greatly (--currently inked--M600 White tortoise, green stripe, and turquoise-white...with my favorite inks, Montblanc Leo. Red Chalk, Yama-Guri, and Alt-Goldgrun. If I could remember how to upload an image I'd post a pic of them).

Yes, I always go a little weak in the knees when I see a tortoise  .

One of these days I'll add the M101n Tortie to my other tortoises, my friend!

Good to hear from you Christopher.

Yes, I did see that one, and I'm trying very hard to resist it! (I'm only 400 bucks short :lticaptd: )

You guys are the most wonderful bunch of enablers!

On my screen it almost looks like a green striped pen. Nice one. Hope to have an M1000 one day myself..

It is a lovely pen. I have heard some folks bemoan how "boring" the Stresemann finish is, but my experience is that the neutral gray/black color in that striped cellulose-acetate shimmers quite interestingly in various light conditions. The variation was for me a pleasant surprise. The way the pen photographed above against the bright red background was also appealing.

I will confess I thought the Stresemann would be dull until I saw it in the flesh. It's become my favourite Pel, so much so that I chased down an M805 recently. It comes alive in sunshine with a really lovely silvery shine. Its a very classy looking pen in the flesh.

Agree.I really like the Stresemann finish. It's better than I expected.
