I could not resist and bought an LE M800 Blue Ocean. Overall demonstrators are not my preference, but Blue Ocean is the first from M800 LE and has old style broad nib, which are more consistent vs modern pelikan nibs. Pen was used and in average condition, but after thorough cleaning and polishing..it looks much better. Inked with MB for BMW, which I got as sample.

Beautiful! Nice photos too! Not really interested in a new Pel but I'd make an exception for this, especially with an old style nib! I have two Marine Blues with silver trim, my favorite Pelikans by far, but the gold trim is really special!

Not new this year, technically, but newly back from restoration so Im only writing with it newly this year: a 1953-ish 400 tortoise with a fine nib, maybe bordering on extra fine.

The pens not pristine but its in nice shape for the most part. Very little tipping left but a nice writer nonetheless.

I picked up a 1980s era Pelikano last spring at the Baltimore-Washington Show, and it's a great little pen.

They really are great pens. Three or four of these in rotation were my daily carry for most of the 1990s. I used to buy them at an art supply store in lower Manhattan for about $15 - quite a lot more than a Parker Vector at the time but also a big step up. I still really like them.

If I can sell an m600 Green O' Green edition I listed on classifieds then I will be able to promptly buy an m700 (and a GRAIL pen for me) from one of the UK vendors. Otherwise, I may have to wait a little while longer.

My first WWII Pelikan. A 100 in traditional green striated with palladium nib. It writes a medium fine line with some flex.

My last new Pelikan was the wonderful M805 Ocean Swirl with an IB nib, which I finally bought in December 2018.

The first Pelikan in 2019 will be the M1005 Streseman. The nib should be 'F'.

So, I finally received the 24-pen Pelikan hard case and it is very neat (if I may say so). Instead of the customary black, yellow and gold color scheme this is black, light grey and silver (which I actually prefer). Great size for vintage Pelikans. :)

Exterior of the case, feels like really sturdy cardboard wrapped in textured faux leather. Could be something else, plastic maybe? Measurements are 300 mm by 257 mm (with the hinges and locking mechanism) by 27mm.

Full interior. The inserts are velvet stippled plastic, the top is padded and covered in silky material. The grooves or slots are suprisingly not too wide but at least they fit all of the vintage Pelikans I have comfortably. Length of the slots is 138mm so they will only fit pens of up to the M700 series size. Maybe this was built before the advent of the M800 etc.? Not a problem for me though.

One more shot of the pens in the trays.

Very happy overall and if I some day find my flock growing with pens of the M800 and bigger size I will find them a proper home. Maybe that rather expensive 24-pen collector's box... I do like how it looks and if I am buying pens of that price range that box should not be that much of a reach anyhow.

ebay, first one I've seen in the last ten or so years. There seem to be two versions of it, one like mine with grey & silver and another with yellow & gold (saw one displayed at a Japanese pen site, post sale though). Wish those came up and available more often...

I love that case mana. Where did you find it?

Ive got an M400 white torty on the way. From the Amazon Global Store UK, which I think is sourced from Iguanasell.

My first new Pelikan of the year is a lowly Go piston filler picked up off eBay on an impulse buy.

Laguna Niguel, California.

I bought my first Pelikan (not first in 2019 but first in my life) , an M1000 black in fine nib. It's used but near mint condition. Better Late than never.

A green-striped 400 with an OM nib is on its way. I expect more Pelikan purchases this year as I've pretty much decided to collect the 1950's nibs in the range EF-BB both regular and oblique.
