Thanks, it is rather nice, isn't it. After the Gold M200, I swore I'd never buy another white one but then I caved and got the M400 White Tortoise and now here we are. ;)

This is how it begins, isn’t it? I Googled and found a violet and a turquoise. And now I want them.

Gotta catch ‘em all.

<No problemo, I thought, I just happen to have an M from my red-striped M400 which I replaced with an EF.

<Pen refused to write with the M. :yikes: I put the B back in and it writes fine with that. Very strange>

chromantic, that sounds like a (clogged) feed problem, no?  Did you previously lubricate the feed with silicone grease, by any chance, so that a smidgeon of it might be polluting the channel?

By now, they demand absolutely crazy prices for the pink one. For the others not so much, as far as I have seen, but the prices for the pink one are just ridiculous. And I have never managed to understand why. 🤷‍♀️

That occurred to me. The nib actually came with my blue-striped M400. I inked that up but didn't like the line width so I swapped it with the EF on the red-striped, which I then never used: I finally got around to buying an EF for it last year but wish I had done so ages ago when Cult was selling them for $105 instead of the $165 they have them for now.

I did the usual flush and soak in water with a little ammonia at the time, will try doing that again, prob use the ultrasonic on it, too.

Yes, the pinks are well over $1000 on ebay. The Turquoise are going for $650 and up, more than I care to spend. I've seen the newer green one for much less than that.

I had wanted the pink and white M600 early on but tried holding one at a pen show and thought it was a bit too heavy.  Then tried a different color one at a pen club meeting and it wasn't so bad.  So ended up getting one of the violet and white ones on eBay, although the pen & box looked like they had fallen off the back of a trailer, and I've now got traces of the ink I put in it in cracks in the cap.... :(

I don’t have a flock, only the two, which may or may not turn out to be a breeding pair…

It is a breeding pair...you will see!

The M605 green, which I ordered yesterday (thank you so much @cultpens for your amazing customer service and fast delivery!) and the M400 white tortoiseshell which I received as a gift Christmas 2023.

You started with just the one and, yet, now you have two. It's clearly parthenogenesis.

I mentioned the “breeding pair” idea to my other half and he seems to think that there are more in my future. Excellent, if it comes out of someone else’s budget! 🥰 Mmmmmm, birthdaaaaaaaay…

  • 2 weeks later...

Here are pictures of my two vintage 400s, the grey-striped arrived this week and the brown tortoise I got last fall.

Although the binde has a pronounced greyish hue, it still seems green-striped.

Even though the brown one with all its nuances of tortoisechell looks more appealing to me eye, both pens are remarkably beautiful and well kept. Congrats!

Thanks. The grey does look greenish in photos, that's why I almost skipped over it but, in the hand, you can easily see it's grey. Here's a photo with it along side the Stresemann and the Black Tortoise where it still looks slightly green.
