A beautiful pen. It doesnt make me think of a 139 but it does look fantastic and of that era. As it is a bit different, it would look great with a Dumas nib fitted.

Your superb craftsmanship sets a high benchmark for any 139 replica pen.

In your original post and image of the pen, there is an aspect with which I'm unfamiliar.

May I please ask a few questions about it?

In the image you've written: ‘Visconti “Lapis bleu” ’.

In the text the pen is described as being “Tibaldi celluloid”.

What's the distinction? Is Tibaldi celluloid the material from which you crafted the pen?

If so, is Visconti “Lapis bleu” the particular color of the celluloid?

Or, have I misunderstood?

I'm unfamiliar with the nomenclature for replica pens.

Dear Tom;

My apologies, you are fully right I

The contradiction between my hand written text on the picture and the typed text is a mistake. of mine….

The celluloid is effectively originating from Visconti , not fully sure how it was named, I expect "Lapis Lazuli".

I'll try to correct my typed text accordingly.

Thanks for your rightful remark, much appreciated !

Kind regards,

Francis

Thank you so much for the helpful clarification.

The Visconti Lapis Lazuli is an especially attractive material in your gifted hands.

We're fortunate to see such a unique example of a contemporary 139 replica.

Amazing job! The celluloid is perfect for this design.

Curious about the filling mechanism - was it sourced from a donor pen?

Hi all,

Happy new year to all of you !
Finished the MB139 replica for my personal collection last week.
I think the Visconti "lapis lazuli "celluloid looks well on this pen, what do you think ?
As always your comments and critique are very welcome !

Yes markiv, the telescopic filler originates from a donor pen.

Wow Francis, that's a neat pen! I'm curious -- the long ink window looks original; did you have a black barrel w/ a cracked "back end", removed the damaged portion aft of the ink window, and mated it with your new Lapis replacement piece? If so, how did you go about mating the ink window w/ your newly made piece?

outstanding work

Pens are like watches , once you start a collection, you can hardly go back. And pens like all fine luxury items do improve with time
