What Pen Are You Waiting For 2019

Put in for a Montegrappa Liberty in Lapis celluloid today. I originally wanted this pen in green malachite celluloid as is my Extra Otto but the Lapis material looks very nice in pictures. The malachite was sold out but I ordered the Lapis anyway. I cant believe how cheap I got the pen for through massdrop! Just the nib would cost as much by itself! Someone really lost their shirt on 70+ pens. I dont have this colorful of a pen in my collection really so it should be a fun addition. I like the Greek keyed 18kt Montegrappa nibs also. I think theyre some of their best overall writers in both #5 and #6. I picked up a broad nib and I do believe the run was limited to 50 numbered pens per color, so Ive read. Absolutely incredible deal!

Hope you did not experience the problems with your "Lapis" that I did with mine. I paid a little over $160 for a used Lapis from an eBay seller. Some of the problems I've experienced with it include the following:

  • a broken converter, which I wound up repairing with super glue
  • a feed which was coated with a gold-color residue, probably from a shimmering ink, so I had to wash it thoroughly, several times
  • a cap which does not mate with the barrel without a bit of fussing, but there's nothing I can do about that
  • a nib and feed which cause skipping with a number of different inks, so I attempted to spread the tines a little bit but have still not corrected the skipping problem

Foolishly, I left "positive feedback" for the seller soon after receiving the pen (minus case and papers, which I expected), but I still intend to send him an email detailing the above problems. I'll not likely ask to return the pen, as that ship has sailed, but I'll definitely ask him why he wasn't as forthcoming as he could or should have been about this pen's defects. All he said in his description of the pen is that "it is a very, very good pen." Not quite. Caveat emptor.

I just ordered the beautiful Pineider Keys of Heaven Limited Edition. It comes with the incomparable medium nib. I am so excited!

Monteverde One Touch in copper. Since it'll be my first Monteverde, does that mean for me it's the full Monte? :D

Still waiting on mass drop to actually ship an Opus 88 Koloro I ordered in December. Not happy about that. But also just ordered a PenBBS 456 off the Etsy site. They were pretty quick before, so hopeful it will come in a couple weeks,

There's an amber Jinhao 51a, an opaque xf 992 and a Hero 7052(?) somewhere between here and China at the mo. I also ordered a cheapo, Manuscript calligraphy set today to see if the nibs will fit in my Nib Creaper.

More importantly though, I just ordered this!

This will be my first pen over £30 (my Blackbird and Sheaffer Sagaris were bargains) so it stung a bit but I'm really happy to have found it. Was ready to pull the trigger on a Pelikan M215 but decided to check again for a vintage flex at the last minute.

If anyone asks, I found it on fleabay for £20 okay? 😄

Congratulations on the nice pens! I'm looking forward to your thoughts on the pens from eBay because I've always wondered about that seller but never bought from them.

Finger crossed. I'm expecting a slow process and not much in the way of communication but hopefully I get a pen at the end of it! It hasn't been updated to "sold" on the website yet so just hoping I'm the only one who's clicked buy.

Another black Kaweco V12 (B) & 619 set with a black pouch (no medal though).

Those are just incredible little pens, will be interesting to see how that B-nib matches the lovely stubby B I have already. :)

Update: Heritage Collectibles just sent a tracking number with LaPoste for my Lady Duofold Lucky Curve. Fingers crossed 🙂.

Cool! I've spent a lot of time on their site in the past but never purchased anything. If you are pleased, then I may consider.

I had a not-so-wonderful experience with a different UK vintage pen site in the past, so I have been leery ever since.

Ooo, but I love a heavy pen. This is nothing but meaty in the hand.

I'm trying to decide what to feed it first. It only takes the small international carts, and the only ones of those I have are Waterman Blue Black, a perfectly cromulent color... but I really want to put Organic Studios Copper into it.

Lamy Aion in red. Should have it by the end of Feb’19.

I ride a recumbent, I play go, I use Macintosh so of course I use a fountain pen.

I received it today and it's a beautiful little pen but ACK! The tines are crossed. It's nothing you could see with the naked eye but he couldn't fail to hear/feel it click clacking when pen meets paper.

Have sent him an email with pics :(

Just ordered a Parker Victory Mk V from Penamie.co.uk. It will go nice with the Parker Victory Mk IV I just got and love.

Massdrop is teasing this a bit, saying the shipping label is printed and ready for pick up, but it’s been two days with that status. And I missed that the Etsy PenBBS store had a notification on it saying they would be closed for the Chinese New Year until Feb 17. So still waiting.

The Leonardo Momento Zero in Stone acrylic arrived, and its fine steel nib is every bit the equal of the fine gold nib on my Abyss celluloid.

Received notice today that my Pilot 823 Smoke with fine nib arrived at our local postal distribution center, so I should get it tomorrow or Tuesday.
