Waiting for the 2019 Limited Edition Pilot Capless, waiting to see (but not necessarily buy) the Benu Supreme, and also waiting for the return of a vintage Parker Duofold in working order.

What is this aliexpress site that everyone is addicted to? Perhaps it's best if I don't check....

I referred earlier to waiting for these two Santinis which are now in my hands:

fpn_1569126644__lava_and_mimetic.jpg

The blue pen is a one-off so has no model name, known rather by its colour, Mimetic Blue. That end-thread design resembles an Ancora Perla (also by Santini) only a little longer and a shade slimmer. They are still girthy pens.

The second is a Lava, this one in Forest Green, serial 6 of 33. Unlike my various other Santinis the Lava is a piston filler although lacking an ink window unfortunately. They sit on the polished box in which the Lava arrived.

Santinis are priced up to suit the fact that despite being a small volume maker, they make their own nibs, and excellent flexy things those 18k nibs are too.

Curious about the Lava, I have been on the verge of buying one, but had not seen an ebonite on offer yet.

Would like to know more about your ebonite Lava.

I'm waiting for a Stipula Novecento black to arrive.

The pen has a steel nib, but I have a spare 14k Stipula that was waiting for the right pen to go in...

Its been quite a while since I ordered a pen but I came into some money out of the blue so ordered a Karus Kustom Vertex with dark green acrylic, coke bottle section/ink window, and steel B nib. Will have it on Wednesday.

Laguna Niguel, California.

Ah, yes, it is actually a Libra Forest Ebonite. I had Lava on the brain while re-arranging some pens including Visconti HS so was repeatedly wrong above.

It will probably be a week or two before I ink it. For now I can add that it is lighter than the 'Colours' range, or the Mimetic Blue one (which is called on the invoice "New Look Mimetic") and than the Ancora Perla, these being all of my Santini or S-derived pens. Capped it is about 31 g, uncapped 19-20g unfilled. Patterning is very attractive although the cap is multi-start so there is no continuity between cap and barrel but there is from barrel to section. I see no evident opening seam between section and barrel. Gold furnishings match up with the Forest colour very well. Nib is impressively large, similar but not identical in proportions to my other Santinis.

The piston filler knob is non-separating in action. Unscrew it until resistance (piston at bottom) then fill. When the piston reaches the top then it starts slipping over a ratchet, indicating you are done.

Diameter of the section is nearly 12 mm below the slight flare, the barrel about 14-15 mm. It feels very comfortable in hand, unposted. If I post (experimentally, because I don't) then it is back-weighted. Uncapped length is about 138 mm. I am expecting this pen to rank highly among my modern pens if the nib lives up to previous experience of the brand.

Thanks, so it's a Libra.

Santini has me interested, I never got an Ancora Perla when it was still available as I was not totally sure I liked the shape of it, but I know they make nice nibs. They now make some nice resin pens at interesting pricing, but this ebonite looks even more appealing (vaguely reminds me of Delta the Journal). Did you order from the Santini site? thanks

I am not totally sure I like the shape of the Perla either. :) The ebonite Libra is much more natural to hold, especially in the section. It is not a small pen (see the measurements) though well compensated by the lightness of ebonite.

I originally made an offer through ebay. This was declined on the basis that they were out of stock (it appears they build to order for small limited runs like that) and on August holidays. However, they agreed to fulfil at the offered price in September, holding shipping of the New Look Mimetic (also ebay) until they could be combined. I had looked at their site also.

Whilst I can not presume how they will respond, I suggest contacting the site to make a reasonable offer there. It may have helped in my case that I was an existing owner of their pens. something I raised.

I haven't bought a pen in months nor even had the urge to. Then I opened up this thread again.

Love you all! :P

My LAMY Accent arrived yesterday, but it was sent to me with the wrong gripping section.

An Aurora 88 Luna with ruthenium-plated EF nib should arrive within the next day or so.

I just placed orders for two Delike New Moon 2 pens, a Delike clipless oxidised brass pen and a Fuliwen 017 pen (although that one isn't for me) in the past 48 hours.

I endeavour to be frank and truthful in what I write, show or otherwise present, when I relate my first-hand experiences that are not independently verifiable; and link to third-party content where I can, when I make a claim or refute a statement of fact in a thread. If there is something you can verify for yourself, I entreat you to do so, and judge for yourself what is right, correct, and valid. I may be wrong, and my position or say-so is no more authoritative and carries no more weight than anyone else's here.

thanks, it does look quite big...

is it still usable? You seem to suggest so.

A review on an Italian site said it's ridiculously big...

"the cap is multi-start so there is no continuity between cap and barrel but there is from barrel to section"

if this means no step down barrel to section that's a positive claim for me, I much prefer this rather than finding a step under my fingers just for the sake of a better aesthetic when capped.

curious to know more when you test the nib, thanks

The restored Duofold and the new Capless arrived on the same day! An embarrassment of riches! I love them both, though I think I am going to have to swap out the M nib in the Pilot for something finer. I was shocked when I found two boxes in the mailbox! :D

My Onoto the Pen 6234 in green pearl -affectionately known as 'The Green O' - has arrived!

I have a BCHR Waterman's Ideal of unknown model number on its way! This should be interesting...

Some fantastic pens out there and I love the look of the Arco Leonardo and that Champagne Sailor!
