What Pen Are You Waiting For 2019

There are, of course, also the Platinum KDP-3000A desk pens which sport 14K gold nibs at nominally 60% of the price of a PTL-5000A each, if you're really into desk pens. :)

I decided not to look at them before ordering these, on the grounds that I'd definitely buy one if I did :D

Will be really interested to hear how Honeybadgers finds theirs though.

Here's a comparative review of KDB-3000A pen with regular Carbon Desk Pen: https://www.parkablogs.com/content/review-rotring-art-pen-vs-carbon-desk-pen-vs-platinum-kdp-3000andp-1000an-desk-pen

Ooh that was really useful thank you! Looks like the DP-1000AN was inadvertently the right call. I won't really be utilising any softness in the nib and it has the slightly finer line, just like the gold nib version. Great news.

Thank you very much for that! This is the most important paragraph to me:

The store also sold the steel nib version, called the DP-1000AN. If you are price conscious and practical, go with the DP-1000AN. My friend bought it and the line width and feel is exactly the same. The store owners says that the gold nib is very slightly more flexible but I could not tell the difference.

While the 14K gold nibs look very attractive (in the photos to went with the review article, anyway), and so does the price, desk pens aren't what I would carry as a writing instrument, or even something to pull out to admire their beauty once in a while when I'm at home. I bought half a dozen or so desk pens to use as dedicated 'test equipment' for ink reviews, and I suppose a quasi-standard against which to calibrate what I see from my other pens, so if the DP-1000AN performs equally for all intents and purposes as the KDP-3000A, I don't think I need to spend A$25 (each) on getting a gold-nibbed version in EF (and perhaps one in F).

I endeavour to be frank and truthful in what I write, show or otherwise present, when I relate my first-hand experiences that are not independently verifiable; and link to third-party content where I can, when I make a claim or refute a statement of fact in a thread. If there is something you can verify for yourself, I entreat you to do so, and judge for yourself what is right, correct, and valid. I may be wrong, and my position or say-so is no more authoritative and carries no more weight than anyone else's here.

Something else must have distracted you.

Entirely possible.

Arrived today. Filled with what else? Lamy Pacific. Though I almost used Petrol.

Makrolon Lamy 2000 with a medium nib. Should be here Thursday.

I have a couple gold nib pens but they are stay at home type pens but I'll actually carry this one.

The Pelikan white tortoise is finally shipping, as is the Jinhao Shimmering Sands. eBay had a 15% off coupon today, so I ordered a DeLike pen with a “glass” nib and second nib, and an email indicated it has shipped out. That would mean a 5-hour turnaround.

I need to stop buying.

Awaiting an unused Pelikan 400NN green-striped with flexible medium nib and a new black-striped Pelikan 400NN Merz & Krell, also with a medium nib...both in their original boxes...

It’s been almost a year of abstinence for me, but about a month ago something went awry.

In short order, I bought a Sailor Pro Gear (Ocean Green), a Visconti HS Bronze Age, and a Leonardo Momento Zero (Hawaii), which have all arrived and been put to good use. Now, I am waiting for:

  1. a pre-1938 Pilot/Namiki eyedropper with a flexy 14k nib.
  2. a Pelikan M1005 Stresemann (could be a long wait)
  3. a Stipula Etruria Gallicana Terra di Siena with a 14k italic nib
  4. a Stipula Etruria Ambra (older model) with an 18k nib
  5. a lovely oblique pen holder made by Dao Huy Hoang

I will stop now.

I hope.

Two Sailors, one an older 1911 Maki-e that was for sale here on FPN and the other a LE from the Kingdom Note store in Tokyo, two tone green to match their LE inks with a white barrel. My first (and probably only) Sailor pens.

OMG I did it again.

Spontaneous acquisition - Pelikan M900 Toledo.

Planned acquisition - Pelikan M800 broad italic (IB) nib.

"tag along" with it - Pelikan 6 pen tray (6 x M80x size).

And for something completely different - I finally found and (re)bought same pen model I bought a long time ago - Harley Davidson fountain pen. It was the first FP I bought for my own money, not received from parents or sth. So sentimental. I was looking for it for a long time, as mine disappeared some time ago. I wanted black and in good condition and finally got it for just under $35 !!!

Everything in just two days. I need a rehab.... 7th and 8th pen this year already....

Deliveries expected Friday, Monday and Wednesday )

Every so often I think about giving in to my inner nine year old on that pen...

The Pikachu package was on Mass drop today but was sold out. I didn’t know that nine year olds could get credit cards!
