I quite like the Aion design, but not very sure it works in saturated colors, like this red and blue.

The aquamarine studio is a definite favorite. <3 I'm glad I didn't go for the olive or terracotta and decided to wait!

I like the AL Star bronze, and I'm not as big a fan of the pastel safaris. But that aqua studio is just pretty

Thanks for the link.

Animation was a bit, umm, so last century but the turquoise Studio was lovely.

I ride a recumbent, I play go, I use Macintosh so of course I use a fountain pen.

If the Turquoise Studio is the 2019 special edition, why does Goulet Pens list the Olive and Terracotta Studios as "coming in February"? Are they the 2018 editions that took a long time to get into Goulet's hands?

Hmmmm. Okay, after seeing the video, it's maybe on the Aions, maybe on the Scala, maybe on the al-Star and definitely no on the Safaris....

And was it just me, or did anyone else notice that all the computer graphics were sort of edgy and geometric -- *except* for the pastel Safaris? As in, wasn't *just* the animation that was "last century"....

Anyone else think it's kinda B.S. that Lamy is making the Pacific Blue Al-Star a regular colour? It was released as a LE, it should stay a LE.

Not me. I decided I didn't like the color that much when I actually saw the pen up close -- it was okay, but not an "OMG! WAAANT! Must HAAAVE!" color. And then spent a lot more money buying a pink TWSBI 580-AL (plus three bottles of De Atramentis ink) instead....

The Dark Lilac Safari? OTOH? Given its reported popularity at the time, I'm kinda surprised that Lamy *didn't* decide to put it in the regular lineup; at the Triangle Pen Show that year, the guy from Crazy Alan's told me that they'd *already* sold 150 of the pens at that point, but was worried that he wasn't going to get his shipment of the Dark Lilac ink at all (that's a local show for him, and he was going home every night to check invoices...).

Interesting conspiracy theories around "Well Model X was shown with square graphics while Model Y had circular graphics and Model Z had amorphous graphics!!! OMG that means Paul really is Dead!"

In the end a pen is just a pen and you either like or dislike a color, shape, pattern, whatever.
There are no evil intents here or lies and fabrications.

A pen is a pen.
Lamy sells pens.

If models and/or colors sell well they stay around, if they don't then they don't.

I really like the Safaris, the Pico and the Xeros.

Thanks for posting the link. This is really for people with time on their hands!

I'm with inkstainedruth on awkward gender signifiers (remember the "lady"?) But in the end a pink is a pink is a pink.

Surprisingly I've changed my mind in that the studio all black just looks kinda ok, while the red aion seems kind of irresistible - especially since I always wanted a red 2000. The pacific blue al-star (all lower case?) really grows on you - my partner has one and it look better with each passing year!

Yesterday I compared the Imporium again (in a Dutch pen shop) to my trusted Persona. I am still convinced that they just should have kept the Persona instead of re-introducing this watered down version. Especially the nib is a disappointment when compared to the excellent tubular nib of the Persona.

On that note ... why oh why did they discontinue the Lamy Lady? Easily one of the most beautiful pens they ever created. Which also has the same nib design as the Persona, by the way.

I like the Safari in Mint Glaze, and the Bronze Al-Star looks good. But does that bronze shade look like a lighter version of Copper-Orange?

My guess is that it will look like polished bronze without any patina. So the color should be more towards a golden shine than coppery orange. Just my guess.

Interesting, I agree with your observation looking at the photos online, however a well known Dutch seller says the following:

"With CopperOrange still fresh in mind, and knowing how sought after that color still is, I expect the Bronze to be hugely popular. A darker and brownish aluminum body this looks classy in any situation".

I'm more than a little confused!

Ill probably get the Bronze Al-Star regardless because it is a different color.

But I still want a light purple Safari to show up some year.
