Could you be more specific? Is it wetter? Does it never turn green?

3 Oysters Purple Gray is wetter than Purple Rock in the pens and papers which I’ve compared the two, and very close in color. Neither is as wet (or as gray) as Sailor’s Chu Shu. I’d say Purple Gray is midrange in wetness, of those three. I did an ink comparison of R&K Scabiosa, RO Purple Rock, 3O Purple Gray, and Sailor Chu Shu with four papers and three pens, but I couldn’t get satisfactory photos. When I get a little time, I’ll play around with scans to see if they do any better, then I may be able to post them. I haven’t seen any green in the the 3 Oysters.

Several of the Monteverde inks (Sapphire, Caribbean Blue, Garnet, Mulberry Noir) and also Rohrer & Klingner Aubergine. I would not say that they are my very favorites, but they are the favorites of 2018.

Thank you for your efforts, and I entirely understand the challenge of getting good photos. Another good ink for a comparison of grayish purples is Birmingham Lilac Wind.

I found SKB inks this year. Several became quick favorites:

- Tea amber - especially in broad nibs

- Deep Soil - after Lgsoltek's excellent look at PenBBS 232 Ugly, I've been on THIS kick

- Mustard - dusty lighter green

- Sienna/Ocher Plum - rich but not overly bright

Another great find:

- Bird's Ink - Taiwan Whistling Thrush - beautiful purple

Another vote here for Aubergine.

Oh, I know this of myself

I assume as much for other people

We’ve listened more to life’s end gong

Than the sound of life’s sweet bells

YES! I found SKB inks this year too! The Sky Blue color (220 - I don't know the official name) is light, but I absolutely love it! It is one of my favorite inks in 2018. When I return to Taiwan, I want to purchase more of them!

  • 1 month later...

Diamine Oxford Blue. New to me in 2018, but I believe it was introduced in an earlier year.

+1

Also discovered KAZ Warsaw Dreaming & Grapefruit
