There isn’t any, unfortunately... There are fewer dealers, even compared to last year’s Philly Show.

There is a show ink at the Franklin Christopher table—a nice deep red.

I’m not sure if there are fewer dealers or not, but there is more open room between aisles due to room setup, as well as several outside the main room. The crowd yesterday seemed strong throughout the day, which I hope led to a great day for vendors.

Lots of great conversations with people yesterday, and a very positive vibe!

I wish someone would come up with another Pennsylvania show in Pittsburgh at a different time of the year, maybe June?

I wish "someone" would come on Tuesday to clean my house.

I don't think our club is big enough to run a show. I know that I would not be wanting to be in charge of one (I don't run events for my other hobby any more either -- and those are a LOT smaller than even a small pen show like the Commonwealth Show outside Boston. The last event I ran was over 25 years ago, and had maybe 60-80 people at it, and people only paid for the site, the food (my husband cooked, and I did a fancy presentation cake), and maybe for class supplies/handouts). A friend of mine in Baltimore set of the class schedule. Mind you, this is for an educational non-profit.

I helped out last summer with a much bigger symposium event that my friend's husband ran, and he had a whole crew of people who worked on different aspects -- including having a Friday night party at someone's house where parking is somewhat limited, so my other friend's boyfriend was in charge of parking and arranging for people to transport people between the hotel and the party (and back). [My job was to run a sort of themed scavenger hunt, which took a lot of research -- over a year -- before I started even putting it together and doing the artwork, and such.].

And I'm not at all sure that other people in the club even have that much organizational experience....

It didn’t seem that way to me. Do you have an actual count of dealers last year and this year or are you offering an opinion?

All things work out in the end. If it is not working out, it is not the end.

It was a really nice show, including compared to last year's, I thought. I generally avoid the modern pens but the displays and the friendliness of the reps caused me to pay a bit more attention this year.

It's not the DC show, of course, but what is? And I'm proud of Philly for keeping this one going. It was really quite crowded and hard to move around on Saturday afternoon (and not because the aisles were narrow!)

Franklin Christoph just call is "Ink '19". Here's a photo of it compared with Diamine Red Dragon.

This was the second time for me and I enjoyed it a lot. Bought four pens (Franklin-Christoph, Edison, Indian ebonite pen and Dani) and swapped three others (Whal-Eversharp, Pilot and Sailor for Eboya and Sailor). No old Platinum pens, unfortunately. One dealer had a wonderful 70 year jubilee pen, but it was too expensive for my budget.

The pen mixer was fun and the Ralph Reyes session both fun and extremely useful. Great program! As to size, perhaps there were fewer sellers than last year but I really missed only some stationary things and there were important "new" pen dealers as well. Hope to be there next year as well.
