How To Remove The Spring From A Dia2

Recommended Posts

Since I use my Kaweco Dia2 mostly with a full-size converter, I'd like to remove the spring from the barrel (reason: when removing the barrel, the spring empties the converter). The filial appears to be screwed on, but it won't budge. Any suggestions on how to safely remove this spring?

Thanks!

Crochet hook or equivalent in the barrel and pull. At least I think that's what I did. Might possibly have had to resort to some needle-nosed pliers.

Alligator forceps are great for things like this. Widgetsupply sells a 3.5 inch alligator hemostat/forecep that is one of the neatest and handiest tools on the bench.

You can reach down the barrel and grab the spring, or sac, or diaphragm, and yank it out. They don't last forever, but they won't break the bank either. I just ordered three, with the previous 4 ordered 2 years ago, which given how much they are used and abused, is pretty good.
