Lamy 2Kiss - A Little Review

Just got a Lamy 2K Iconic Stainless Steel, 14k m nib, for few days.

Quite a lot of info can be found everywhere I guess yet here are some my little review.
Pros
Excellent finishing
Stylistic (my major push-buy-button reason)
Smooth wet nib
No hard start, no skipping, won't dry out over-night
Line variation (it surprises me)
Good clip
Piston filler
Good price with 10% off form cult (compare the price in HK)
Write right out from the box
Cons
Really heavy, surely not for long writing, also not good for shirt pocket.
Comparatively small sweet area for the nib
Can't see the ink level
Still some ink remains on the section area (using Iroshizuku-murasaki-shikibu)
Whole pen, a little bit slippery. (Maybe I don't have a wet hand...)
About the weight: it is 55g capped (uncapped 36g).
My capped Pilot CH92 PLUS Custom 74 = 44g.
Conclusion:
It's iconic and really stylistic.
The nib performs nicely.
Love it.

Sorry the lamp is a bit yellow, actually the ink is a very pretty purple indeed...
Thanks for stopping by.

Thanks for the review!

So, how are you finding the lack of an ink window with daily use? Is it annoying? Have you run into any issues?

That's my one reservation with this pen, and the only reason I didn't run right out and buy one....

Lovely photo, by the way. I love the way the nib is reflected in the clip.

Weight is a matter of taste: I can write for ever with the 2K steel, but the markrolon is to light and give !e cramps after half an hour or so. So for me, the "very heavy" goes in the "pros"

This is what made me decide to save up for the steel version! Glad I'm not the only one who loves heavy pens! My favorites are all made of brass, currently 😄

Yes, that could be inconvenient, if it is the only pen to be carried with.

Although I carry it these days, I don’t write much with it actually, and that’s why I have it inked purple. I just use it for some short fancy notes, and I always have my work horse(s) beside, like the CH92 and pro gear etc.

For just nearly a week, I didn’t ink it the 2nd time yet.

So for me, I’m totally OK for this ink-windowless beauty.

Sometimes, maybe we just need something to be unpredictable.

I treat some “Huh?!” “Ha!? “Oh...” “Uuug” as decorations to daily lives...

Careful with that nib. I broke mine pushing it too hard.

Wow... Thanks for the reminder....

Actually I did quite hard these days (try to make the purple note even fancier...lol)

That's a great attitude! Your enthusiasm is infectious. I think -- and by "I think" I mean, "I've been thinking about it all day now and I'm fairly certain I've made up my mind" -- I think it's time for me to welcome some of that unpredictability into my life!

I recently bought my first Lamy pen, a 2000 in Makrolon. What prompted me was the availability of an OM nib, as well as a most attractive price from Cult Pens. I was ordering some of their Deep Dark inks and decided to get the pen as well. It's a very smooth and pleasant writer, although the OM is more like an OB. The size and weight are very comfortable, and it will go anywhere. Don't know why I waited so long to get one.

Rationalizing pen and ink purchases since 1967.

oh. That was a hard fight for me between OM and M...

As Im not sure if I could write with the om, so to take a safer move, I got it M.

How does the om perform? Could you upload some writing sample?

Now considering my coming makrolon in om....

The OM writes more like an OB in term of line thickness. Even though it appears to be a 15º oblique cut, there is not that much line variation. There is a definite sweet spot to this nib, as is usual with L2ks.

Oh to have that translucent pink Prera! @migo984 has the Oeste series named after birds. There is a pink one, so I’m assuming Este is the same pen as Oeste.    Excellent haul. I have some Uniball One P pens. Do you like to use them? I like them enough, but don’t use them too much yet.    Do you or your wife use Travelers Notebooks? Seeing you were at Kyoto, I thought of them as there is a store there.

It's not nearly so thick that I feel it comprises my fine-grained control, the way I feel about the Cross Peerless 125 or some of the high-end TACCIA Urushi pens with cigar-shaped bodies and 18K gold nibs. Why would you expect me or anyone else to make explicit mention of it, if it isn't a travesty or such a disappointment that an owner of the pen would want to bring it to the attention of his/her peers so that they could “learn from his/her mistake” without paying the price?

Why nobody says that the section of Tuzu besides triangular shape is quite thick. Honestly it’s the thickest one among my many pens, other thick I own is Noodler’s Ahab. Because of that fat section I feel more control and my handwriting has improved. I can’t say it’s comfortable or uncomfortable, but needs a moment to accommodate. It’s funny because my school years are long over. Besides this pen had horrible F nib. Tines were perfectly aligned but it was so scratchy on left stroke that collecte

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth
