Diamine Guitar Inks - New German Exclusives

The dealer I referred to is Fritz Schimpf:

Thanks.

Most of my EU vendors are Dutch, and I have never paid the VAT with any of them.

Yes, from experience I know La Couronne du Comte and Fontoplumo do not charge VAT for exports out of the EU. The only issue is with these Guitar collection inks being German exclusive.

Don't hesitate to order from fountainfeder.eu if you see something you like. They are nice folks, and the shipping charges are very reasonable.

Interestingly -- these "German exclusives" seem to be available from PenChalet (I have 30ml of Cherry Sunburst and Honey Burst).

They were introduced as German exclusives. Diamine changed this later and made them available worldwide.

These are now for sale in the US. I got Cherry Sunburst at a brick and mortar store.

I got samples of three of the colors (Pelham Blue, Tobacco Sunburst, and Desert Burst) a couple of weeks ago from Goulet Pens, but haven't had a chance to try them yet (I ordered a bunch of other ink samples from them, Anderson, and Van Ness, as well as getting a few bottles of ink I'd already tried).

The various samples and smudges I have seen on line make me think that Pelham blue looks like Parker Quink blue black when dry - although I haven’t seen any side by side comparisons. I happen to like the various shades of blue green that the Parker ink leaves on the paper. Can anyone who has used both of these inks tell me if the colours are similar. And, how do the other characteristics of the two inks compare.

Thanks.

For the #50shadesofbluechallenge (link to the hashtag on Instagram), a challenge over at the German PenExchange forum for July & August 2020, I inked up all my pens with all the 50+ blue inks I have. The snapshots might also be of interest to some here.

Diamine Guitar Series Pelham Blue is the only blue ink in this guitar finish-inspired series and admittedly the only one I was interested in. To make up for that I hoarded (at least compared to my usual buying habits) by getting three small bottles and a big 80ml glass.

The sheen you see in the blob does not come out in normal writing, which is something I do not miss (anymore) but enjoy the fuss-free character of this ink.

I had Pelham in a Platinum 3776 Tortoise Celluloid pen with a broad nib that tends to make inks look fairly dense without being just wet. Hard to describe ... However, you can see how dark Pelham goes on paper and how it brightens up in lighter areas. So pretty!

Thanks for posting the pix. I have a sample of Pelham Blue that I keep meaning to put in something, as well as one of the other colors (I bought three, but only tried Tobacco Sunburst so far).

Naaa, don't wait! Put it in every pen that is free! :P

JulieParadise: your Pelham Blue looks like what I expected of Waterman Mysterious Blue. Do you have both, by chance? If so, I’d love to see them side-by-side. Thank you for your reviews

Only waited because I got sidetracked by some other samples, and by being back to having an unwieldy number (for me) of pens that were inked up.

And sadly, I have too many pens to do what you suggest. Especially since it's only a two ounce sample.... :o
