Monte Rosa Piston

CarrotBasket

Recommended Posts

Hello, I am looking for advice on repairing the broken psiton rod that came with this Monte Rosa. I am not sure I will be able to find a replacement and the rubber seal appears to in very good shape still.

It is broken and has chucks missing in the upper section so if I twist the piston all the way down it disconects from the threads and gets stuck in the barrel.

Is there an optimal way to glue this or something?

Your help is much appreciated :)

I'm sorry I have no valuable input on repair, but how did you remove the piston?

The section unscrews just like the tail end just bellow the the diamonds, so was able to push it out the back with a thin rod.

My attempts to glue it have failed there is not enough contact area to make a strong bond. So I am using it basically as an eye dropper without the full range of motion in the piston. Maybe eventually I will take it to an expert see what they can do. Oh well

Sorry, but I was asking about removing the piston knob/mechanism itself. I just got a monte rosa that had black ink behind it, so I'd like to remove and grease the piston.

That break in the piston is kind of permanent, you'll likely never get a solid bond without cutting it down and flattening it. A replacement could be turned from acrylic, but my recommendation is to look on ebay for a replacement barrel assembly and just stealing the piston from it (they are on eBay for about $40)
