Can anyone recommend a vintage fountain pen restorer? I used to send my pens to Ron at Main Street Pens, but all my attempts to contact that business have failed.

Restore it yourself. No big deal. A little reading and watching Youtube videos on the subject would make you want to do it yourself. Good luck.

Yes I endorse the repair it yourself thread.Many guides are available online.

I think some people may be overlooking the fact if you are just starting DIY pen restoration, you need to make an upfront investment in equipment, tools, and supplies. If it's just one Snorkel you want to fix up, it's probably cheaper and faster to pay a pro for it.

Snorkel is complex but not hard to DIY with just basic tools for seals change. But if you need to replace parts because they're broken/missing/rusted or need to resac... yeah having some experience & parts stash is handy.

 

Don't need many specialized tools for Snorkel minor maintenance... except maybe for the longshank skinny flat screwdriver.

 

Vac otoh... damned Vacs...!!

Please note that a lot of YouTube pen repair videos do not show best practices. Nearly all are done by amateurs, who may be enthusiastic and well meaning, but who don't have the extensive experience of professionals.
