Hello guys, Hope all of you are having a lovely day!

I've been wanting to experience some Chinese pens and I really liked the design of these two pens. However, in regards of performance, which one would you recommend? If you have any other suggestions, I'd really appreciate your help! :))

I personally like both pens and have several of each. The Baoer is all metal so will have a slight bit of weight to it but it's not overly heavy. It is also based on the Sonnet so that gives you an idea of what you are looking at. Being metal, the lacquer coating could chip and the trim parts can flake off but at the price these pens are I still consider them a bargain especially if you are just starting out with fountain pens. The writing quality can be iffy but can be tweaked. With the 992, you have a plastic pen that is light weight and very easy on the hand. Build quality is pretty good for what you pay. The nib and feed can actually be unscrewed from the section for thorough cleaning and the pen writes quite well from the start. Both pens are pretty good values and the cost should allow you get a couple of both for very little money. Try both of them-it will be fun and you can learn a lot.

I have no experience with the Jinhao 992. But I have a Baoer 388 and it has been my #1 EDC since I bought it several months ago. A few weeks after I bought it I modified it with a #5 "flex nib" from Fountain Pen Revolution. I loved it even more.

I love the smell of fountain pen ink in the morning.
