It's that time of year again and Diamine are releasing their latest additions to the Shimmer Inks range. Eight new colours featuring three silvers: Starlit Sea, Peacock Flare and Neon Lime plus five golds: Pink Champagne, Razzamatazz, Rockin' Rio, Dragon Blood and Mystique.

And what a lovely range of colours they are too, with plenty of shimmer, as you'd expect. For me, the colours seem more mature than previous and they blend together beautifully - take a look at the modern calligraphy examples and the portraits of Mr Glam himself!

From a handwriting perspective, these look absolutely amazing. I really do like that Mystique. The inks flow well and dry quickly. But as with all shimmer inks, the metals do dry on the surface and as they are fine particles will come away from the surface if accidentally brushed or rubbed, so do take care.

So, if you're looking for some fun, you can't go too far wrong here, BUT don't forget to shake well before use!

If you're interested to find how versatile fountain pen inks are and want to learn how to utilise them in your art and journalling, I'm running some workshops this autumn. All materials and refreshments are included and we'll be looking at Illustration techniques, Modern Calligraphy, Shimmer Inks, Ink and bleach, Ink Art etc. For further info, please click the link: www.nickstewart.ink/events

Thanks for the heads up (and the really stellar artwork!)

Some of these are definitely going on the wish list. Anyone know how soon they'll be available Stateside?

"It's very nice, but frankly, when I signed that list for a P-51, what I had in mind was a fountain pen."

Thanks Ruth. From what I can gather, the release date is imminent.

Man, I wish they would offer these in 10-15 mL bottles. A sample is too little and a full bottle is way too much for specialty inks...

Maybe that's something you could email Diamine about?

I really dislike the shimmer ink aesthetic but gotta love your Marc B :-)

Shimmerinks are not everyone's cup of tea. But Marc Bolan? Get it on!

Thank you Nick!

Is that a red sheen I see on Starlit Sea? How close is it to Blue Pearl from the first series?

Indeed it is. Starlit is a slightly lighter blue than Blue Pearl.

Thanks for the useful look at these inks. There is some appeal for the base colors. I've tried to give shimmer inks some love but just don't end up using them more than once. With some of the Shimmertastic inks such as Blue Pearl I use the ink without shaking, that seems okay for a while. Wish I had a centrifuge perhaps I could spin down a hard pellet and decant particle free ink.

Great stuff.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

Create a Ghostly Avatar and I'll send you a letter. Check out some Ink comparisons: The Great PPS Comparison

Don't know where to start?  Look at the Inky Topics O'day.  Then, see inks sorted by color: Blue Purple Brown Red Green Dark Green Orange Black Pinks Yellows Blue-Blacks Grey/Gray UVInks Turquoise/Teal MURKY
