So I was browsing through Bobbys store on fleabay in hopes he might have the elusive full metal Hero 100 and I have stumbled upon this little pen Kaco Retro,

I do not know much about this brand only that there was some hype about its sky model. This pen looks like Hero 616 albeit with a funky plastic cap, Bobby has them in several different colours.

Has anybody tried them they look funky and might make nice back up pen for lending

Got one today. It's an ultramodern take on the eternal Chinese theme of Parker 51 lookalikes. The nib was a pleasant surprise - wet and buttersmooth, great writer right out of the box. On par with (or even better than) that of my Wing Sung 618. Lightweight but well balanced. Comes with Schmidt converter, takes standard int'l cartridges.

If you want a fun c/c pen for about $11 incl. shipping, go for it. It's worth the money.

Practice, patience, perseverance

I have the white one and I can testify to that much the same ... its a good time for hooded nib fans , these days we are seeing more of the hooded nib classic P51 styled pens being updated with modern mechanics yet retaining the charm of the classic at the same time. And of course new one like this and the Jinhao 51A

I received one in the mail today, the black version with the red dot. Asides from the plastic, that feels a bit cheap, I love it. It looks great, everything is well made and it writes great. Killer pen for $8.

Is it correct that the cartridge caliber is 2.4mm and not 2.6mm? Other fountain pens use Schmidt nibs, but this product uses hood nibs, which are commonly found in China, so I'm a little concerned.
