What’S Your “Surprise” Pen For Today?

A Parker 51 Vacumatic with a lovely needlepoint fine nib arrived at my house today... I had forgotten I had bought it a few weeks ago. It must have gotten gummed up in Customs, because it came from Argentina. I switched out the nibs with my beater 51 Aero and I have the perfect pen now. Surprise!

Literally.

Pelikan M300 green stripe with medium nib. An exquisite small pen with brass piston filler works. My hands are not large, and this pen feels good in my hand.

Wing Sung 237, with a conical F nib. Someone gave me the pen a few years ago and it got put aside in favor of "better" pens. But I pulled it out the other night and had forgotten that it really is a nice writer (and the red marbled barrel is very attractive as well). Right now, it's sporting Noodler's Boston brahmin Ship of the Line LE, the swag ink from last weekend's Commonwealth Pen Show (other than the lack of water resistance, I like the ink much more than I expected, given that the color on the label (a teal leaning green) does not match the contents at ALL (a softer, mid-spectrum green that has a greyish tinge to it, and a tiny bit of shading).

At Pelikan Hub in Wrocław last night, I was able to try a couple of Moonman pens (and other Chinese brands), the Wancai Mini and the one that's tapered on both ends, also an eyedropper (don't know the model number but it resembles a F-C Pocket 66).

I've seen video reviews of these pens and read the long-ish thread about the Mini here and was tempted, but... I always closed the browser window when it came to "add to cart" time.

I must say, these pens were lovely! They looked good and felt good in the hand, and I loved the EF nibs. The Mini especially impressed me, because it was so comfortable to write with.

So, yeah, finally ordered one today.

As for Pelikans... Artur our Hub Master showed me his 815, the metal-striped beauty. I'm down to one beater Pelikan, an old 150, and maybe four steel nibs, but I agree with Artur that the 815 is the most beautiful Pelikan. I think I like it even better than the Gaudi. (But I'm not planning to buy one. I'll just enjoy its beauty from afar.)
