Rotring 600 Ballpoint Vs Rapid Pro

Hi folks,

Need your sage advice. Was on the verge of buying the RapidPro and then found a 600 at Jetpens.

It's my understanding the 600 bp is no longer made and that it's all metal whereas the RapidPro has a little plastic.

Frankly, at my age, a little plastic won't make much difference.

Would appreciate all thoughts, comments, or advice.

Thanks...

Regards,

George.

I haven't own both ballpoint pens, so my answer may not be the best one. But I own a 600 mechanical pencil an I find it much reliable and sturdier than the rapid pro. If the price is more or less the same, I'd suggest 600.

The rOtring 600 is a classic. Their ballpoint pens are very rugged. The Rapid Pro is a nice writing instrument, probably a little more pocket-safe. I think it mostly comes down to preferences on appearance. Get some hi-res photos of both and look 'em over closely. Watch some video reviews. Also, keep an eye out for sales. For instance, the Rapid Pro mechanical pencil was recently listed on Amazon for just $10. It started selling fast so the price didn't last long (it's now $17.99). Sometimes you can find used examples in good shape on eBay for a very good price, but given more recent discounted pricing, I think new condition would be more advantageous.

By the way, I don't know what your budget is, but rOtring has come out with a ballpoint version of the 800, completely retractable tip. Presently only available in Japan, but should be coming to USA in due time.

Thanks for your comments. Greatly appreciated.

Yes, I did buy the 600 and I'm enjoying it.

For reasons I can't quite fathom I've been buying BPs. Have Faber Castell, Caran d'ache, a Visconti from Mass Drop as well as ones I've had for a while. In fact, I have an Ernest Hemingway MB I bought many years ago.

Oh, well. Maybe I'll chalk it up to old age.....

Best regards and thanks....
