First Montblanc Pen. Is It Real?

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone. This is my first post, so apologies in advance for any mistakes  I decided to buy my first fountain pen with a gold nib and this Montblanc 146 seems to be in a good price and condition (apart from the beaten up box which will go in the bin). I did some research and it looks real to me, but I wish someone more knowledgeable could confirm it. So... does it look real?

Photo are not that great in terms of focus. Is the pen a piston filler?

It looks OK from what I can see. Nothing jumping out screaming fake.

You should be fine. If there is a serial number on the clip, search it in google. If you get no results then another positive sign. Some fakes uses the same serial number for each pen and you can often find lot of hits on those.

Montblanc is a popular gift pen, so there are a certain percentage of people who receive but never use them. Sometimes you can get lucky on price because of this. I did. My seller just wanted, in exchange for a nominal amount of cash (enough to prove the buyer is serious rather than opportunistic), someone who would use and enjoy it.

I'd keep the box for storage unless it's totally trashed.

That was the story I was told by the seller. Pen kept in a drawer for 10 years, so it is pretty much unused :D
