Lamy 2000 Cap “Double Click”?

RLR

Recommended Posts

I have a 2000-2010 (bought used from a non-pen person) Lamy 2000. Love it. No issues but one question:

If I push the cap on lightly to first click the cap stays on but not tightly. Very easy to pull off, hardly any resistance. If I push it harder to second click it stays on tightly, requiring regular pressure to pull off.

Am I jamming the body too far? I know the nib is not hitting the cap tip.

Any info appreciated.

My 2000 has a somewhat odd capping feel too, but I wouldnt describe it as two clicks. More of an initial contact, then soft scraping (of the metal posts against the inside of the cap) ending with a clear click.

Neither of my 2000s have a "double click".

They perform like this (with the "scraping" being very light/soft).

that's just the material moving against itself. There's definitely not a second click

Selling a boatload of restored, fairly rare, vintage Japanese gold nib pens, click here to see (more added as I finish restoring them)

There are two clicks, each with some force needed to remove cap (first click very weak hold, second click regular pen cap hold.) 2mm movement of body between clicks.
