Montblanc Web Grey (Heritage Spider Metamorphosis)

Montblanc regularly intoduces new and pricey LE/SE inks.

I'd like to try more of them but because of high cost of a bottle, it's not possible.

As I like grey inks, I decided to try this one.

Bottle

50 ml glass bottle that comes in a stylish packaging. It looks nice on the shelf. It's solid and ergonomic.

Ink splash

As you'll see in a second, it's not most saturated grey ink on the market. It leans toward puple just a little bit, but has a distinct silver tone to it. I have to say I enjoy the hue, although in drier nibs the line will lack strength. The flow and behavious are decent.

THANKS SOOO MUCH VIS!!!... I like the hue, but I would LOVE it if it was much more saturated. I mean, it looks diluted. I can do that on my own... ;)

Thanks for the review, Vis. I’ve been considering this one, wondering what it would look like. Know I know. And I like it - nice shading and a pencil-like feel to it - should work well in my wetter Pelikan with M-nib.

It looks super cool in the big smear on Tomoe River. I also like the edging on TR and to a lesser extent Rhodia, though it doesn't really show up on the other papers. Seems a bit weak for writing, but I think it's really pretty.

Neat! Now that's what I've been looking for and/or waiting for. The bottle (https://i2.wp.com/wondernaut.files.wordpress.com/2018/07/spider_bottle_2.jpg), splash and kitchen towel each lend the purple touch but the Tomoe River still brings out the fleshiness. As of tomorrow, it's mine!!!

Many thanks, too. :D

I love the bottle, but seriously, where is the ink?

Though the color reminds me of the wolf spider I tried to pickup thinking it was a plastic trinket. Not only was I wrong, it had 1000s of baby spiders. Though I thought it was millions.

And every one of the wee beasties a roach/silverfish killing machine. I'm not real fond of the ink but we can't have enough wolf spiders around. Or enough Visvamitra ink reviews.

Thank you for the very helpful review.

For unknown reasons, this particular ink isn't offered in the Montblanc China Web store, which serves the area where I work and live.

A student will bring it from the United States two months later.

So far, so good... not too pale, light or unsaturated. But a bit dry.... Nice colour, as mentioned, with a tick of purple. Plus, as I see it, a half a tick of green.... An "original" grey.

Oh dear. Hoping my big nibs overcome the dryness. Because the color is fascinating

Thank you for yet another amazing review. I am curious how it stands in comparison to Oyster Grey. Any ideas?
