Visconti Homo Sapiens Repair

Here is my tale of woe.

I bought my Visconti Homo Sapiens Bronze Age Midi earlier this year and had finally gotten around to trying to figure out how the filling mechanism worked. From everything I could read or watch on line the Midi version of this pen has a plunger filler system. Unscrew the blind cap, pull the plunger out, put the nib in the bottle, push and pull the plunger out a couple of times, and the pen is filled.

My problem is that after I unscrewed the blind cap I could not get a plunger to come out of the pen. So, I figured I had not unscrewed the blind cap far enough, but when I made that last, difficult twist, the blind cap came all the way off. There is no plunger! Just a black plastic tip that I am supposing the blind cap was meant to stay attached to. Great, now I've broken my new pen without ever even using it!

Is there a USA repair shop for Visconti pens and if so, does anybody have the contact information for them? If I have to send it to Italy, I will, but I would prefer not to. Thanks in advance for your help.

Cole's of London is who you need to contact if I'm not mistaken.

And the Maxi has the power filler, while the Midi uses what I believe is a captured converter system.

I knew it didn't have a power filler system, but how do you use a "captured converter system"?

Have I broken the blind cap, now that it comes completely off? And I don't have any c/c pens, just vintage lever fillers, eyedroppers and my Waterman Gentlemen. Any advise is greatly appreciated!

I don't have that model, but many of my c/c fillers, the blind cap unscrewed completely, then you turn the little knob below it to fill and flush the pen. Others it's secured to the filler knob and doesn't come off at all. You would twist the filler cap until it stopped, put the nib in the ink all the way up to the section, then turn the cap until it's back flush with the pen body.

You need to talk to someone who has this model to see which you have. Get on the chat on the Goulet Pens website and I'll be they can walk you through it.

Thanks, Ghost Plane, I will contact Goulet Pens - that's where I bought the pen from.

The blind cap should not come off on that pen...you put the nib in ink. Twist up then twist it back down. That should be it.

Ghost Plane and lionheartlee are corrct. The blind cap is not supposed to come off. It is either a piston or captive converter system.

Repair depends on what was damaged when the last difficult twist was made. The dealer or Coles can arrange repair for you, but it will likely need to go back to Italy.

I was able to put the blind cap back on and make it draw ink. I dodged a bullet this time. Thanks for everyone’s help and advice.
