Manufacturers are free to charge what they like, does not mean I have to agree.

Exactly. Some of us actually compare quality and cost/ml. Value added and all that.

+1

My wallet, my rules... :D

I am happy to pay a premium for a technically superior product, which again is subjective.

In case of inks, the only differences IMO are color, sheen, dry/wet and water resistance.

As with everything, different strokes for different folks.

I think there's a bigger point Namo was trying to make with those links. Even though Lamy is charging higher than their usual prices for these new inks, several other manufacturers charge even more for their "boutique" inks.

Of course. All he/she said was that they hoped it would be lower in price. I have the same wish, about nearly everything in this hobby. Oh well. An ink has to blow my doors off for me to pay that kind of price. Otherwise, from my point of view, there are many other high quality offers for less money. But we can all spend whatever we decide.

Close enough. When the 10 new inks were announced, some people wouldn't believe it. When it was officially confirmed, some people complained the swabs were computer's. Then some people were dead sure the prices would be offensive. When the bottles were out and the reasonable price was disclosed, some people did compare with the lowest $/ml Western ink on the market to say it was all a marketing scam.

Of course it is.

But then again, why complained ABOUT LAMY and NOT about MB or Pelikan or Pilot or Caran d'Ache???

I like Lamy's products, but products they are and not some idealistic exception on the pen/ink market. So deal with your expectations (and that does not mean one cannot criticize, but do it with a ground, please). Is it so hard to recognize that Lamy did what they say they would do, recognize that the price is indeed decent, that the inks indeed are interesting?

And or course as any of you I am expecting reviews with impatience.

This is a weird reply. What is going on around here? Why suggest that people are inferior who don't agree with you?

There is some touchiness around here about expressing some displeasure about a few Lamy products. Who cares?

I seem to have ruffled some feathers.

I enjoy Lamy products and own a few but do not harbor fanboy tendencies towards any brand.

On this occasion, full marks to Lamy for a timely launch of interesting colors.

My issue is with pricing, which is subjective.

As for 'Who cares', obviously the fanboys do tend to get hot under the collar.

Benitoite seems great, and I'll buy it, probably with Agate and Topaz. I hope the other colors will not be as plain as they seem.

@ mazinger55

Is this at a French retailer? UK launch seems to be by end of Sept.

Have any retailers in UK/US/Europe got the new inks in stock or is there a delay from Lamy all round?
