10 New Lamy Inks At The End Of The Year!

Absolutely nothing. To keep myself from raising my heart rate, I'll go with the answer of 'nothing'.

We'll see 10 brand new inks from Lamy by close of year, 2018. They'll be such inks, we'll forget about Parker Penman Sapphire, Aurora Black, and Noodler's Apache Sunset with remembering them only as the 'before-Lamy-10-new-ink-times'.

Ha!

Since it was a sincere question and that I was not looking for sarcasm as an answer I'll try and be more specific: Lamy will (maybe) launch 10 new inks. I can understand skepticism about that, but I can't help noticing that other brands don't get that treatment. Everytime Sailor produces a new ink,it's all "aaahhhh"and "ooohhh!", and this is true for other brands and for the pens as well. But when Lamy launches a new product, there is always a lot of skepticism and critics (some that wouldn't be well received in other parts of this forum, esp. in the one concerning another famous German brand). Recently the Aion was received with a lot of cold remarks, although it's the event of the year IMHO (a FP of this quality for this price?!); the 2K anniversary received a lot of bad comments (including from me as I do find it too expensive, but the pen is nice). Besides Lamy inks aren't the most exciting on the market, but they perform very well, and the bottle design is probably the best there is. Hence my question : what's the problem with Lamy? Hope this helps.

De Atrementis has been pasted for their relabeling. It's not specific to Lamy in any way. Sailor has gotten their criticism too. Prolonged expectations from eager customers with cash are sometimes hard to match. Marketing teases are risky that way, and there are very discerning customers here.

Thanks. I guess we'll see...

I really like my Lamy pens and have been carrying my 2000 and Studio with gold nibs as my daily carry pens for a while. I just like them. I was not overly enthused with their ink, but maybe they will release something cool. New inks probably matter more for people who use cartridges if you are then stuck with the ink offered by the manufacturer. I usually use converters so it is less important to me since I have so many others from which to choose.

I think the problem people have with Lamy ink is that, no matter what colour pen you get, you get a cart or bottle of blue and their blue is very bland and boring. Then you try their red and it's possibly one of the worst out there. Green is not much better. Personally I like their black and think it's one of the best and safest out there, though there are plenty darker (it's still a black, not a dark grey) and their turquoise is a top contender. Problem is that's just two inks out of a range of 6 plus specials, which are mixed (how many loved Dark Lilac and how many were disappointed by Petrol).

If that were to happen my Lamy pens might increase in value.

Sometimes I believe that Lamy is perceived as the FP equivalent of Volkswagen. No matter how nice they are they will never get the "ooohhs" and "aaahhs" of its german brethren BMW and Mercedes, I mean, Pelikan and Montblanc.

+1

The "ooohhs" and "aaahhs" are easier for $1000 pens vs $100 since beauty, design and craftsmanship come at a cost.

Lamy is not a luxury brand.

Inks are not Lamy's forte and most are just average or worse.

So, Lamy MAY launch 10 colors, but 10 inks... :lticaptd:

I will wait and see what Lamy produces.
We will hopefully see some nice color choices become available.

It appears that Lamy has become the Company that people feel it is "cool" to pick on rather than just "not like".

I don't see it this way at all.

It could seem that way because Lamy can do a lot better than their present form and hence the expectations are high.

An exciting launch would definitely help correct the course.

And you are assuming that the opinions expressed here concerning Lamy's ink are the only ones expressed or the only ones that matter.

Until there is knowledge of the entire population of Lamy ink users as to their opinions of the quality and appeal all there is is minimal personal opinion.

Just because someone on this website doesn't like a color doesn't mean it isn't popular with a much wider audience.

Forums are just a collection of opinions of like minded individuals. On FPN, it happens to be FP's and inks.

I am sure it does not matter to manufacturers what is expressed here.

Likewise, I wouldn't lose sleep if Lamy did not launch anything exciting.

If someone feels a certain way about a certain product, so be it and it is unfortunate if it comes across as bashing.

Lamy's survival definitely does not depend upon the support from FPN members.

I feel it's sad because Lamy is the most innovative brand on the market, and producing affordable pens. What other company gave us as much innovation than Lamy the last 25-30 years? The Persona. The Lady. The Studio. The Accent. The Dialog (1, 2 and 3). The Aion. Every pen with a sound new, innovative design and not the same pen in a different clothes... or pens inspired by branding only...

Lamy is a robust VFM brand although some models are optimistically priced. Their CS is great and I have always had a slow but pleasant experience.

Their model range is quite extensive compared to the competition, not to mention Scala, Logo, Safari and 2K.

Lamy: We are releasing a new innovative pen design with a full metal body and modern Bauhaus-inspired design!

Consumers: Meh.

Mont Blanc: We are releasing another 1000$ plastic pen you're gonna love, and you'll buy it for it's white plastic logo!

Consumers: OMG I WANT IN!

If people don't like Lamy's products or their design aesthetic, why be a part of this forum? What has Lamy done to deserve the bashing it gets?

I have not seen any "bashing" here.
