Thanks for the reminder, I believe I did empty the reserve tank after cleaning it just now.

This reserve tank... how does that work exactly? Is it actually a second ink chamber?

Currently most used pen: Parker 21 <F> -- filled with TWSBI Blue Black ink

Yes, it's a smaller secondary ink chamber. When you run out of ink, you depress a small lever at the base of the feed and get access to the spare ink reserve, gives you about another 2-3 pages. Only Geha pens have this feature.

The underside of the feed has a little plastic lever on it. That lever pushes against a little plastic plug that goes up into the ink chamber, and means that not all of the ink in the chamber can drain out into the feed.

If one pushes that lever, the plug is moved, and the rest of the ink in the pen can then reach the feed.

It is a really neat - simple to make, simple to use, very useful - feature that warns one to re-fill the pen before one actually runs out of ink.
The act of moving the piston to re-fill one's pen even actually pushes the plug (& lever) down again, and thus re-sets the lever/plug mechanism. It's great

And, if one doesn't wish to use it, one can simply move the lever right after filling one's pen.

@Merrick @Mercian, thanks!  This is such a thoughtful feature.   I would always be using this... if only I had a Geha. :-)

I had a Geha  (I forget which model -- 760, perhaps?) some years ago and sold it on to a friend in the Boston area because I really wanted to concentrate on Pelikan; but what I most remember it for was the wonderful, flexy nib!  As good as <any>!
