Aurora's web site just says this is Model 016. Does anyone know another model name?

Your answer is on the top left corner of the box...the Archivi Storici is a modern (I think late 200x) reimagining of the Aurora 88. Nice pen.

"Archive Storic" means "Historical Archives" and the same lid is used with an Aurora Duo Cart pen. The Mod. 016 is on a label at the bottom of the box and when I looked at the Aurora website it showed the pen through a search but nothing else. The official Aurora web site leaves a lot to be desired.

Correct on all counts. The cap is indeed like that on a Duocart, which was part of the 88 line. And yes, Aurora's website is not a good source of historical material; they changed hands some years ago and moved on from their history.

This is a much better description of their history.

like tmenyc wrote,

the pen's name is archivi storici. the model 016 means it's black with gold cap.

an image reference to recognize some of the early Aurora

from left to right Aurora 88K, two 88P, an Aurora 88, a Parker 51 for comparison.

The Archivi Storici are remakes produced if I am not mistaken starting in 2007 supposedly with left over vintage materials (barrels, caps, nibs, etc).

They often have the peculiarity of using satin/brushed barrel and cap materials, which belong to some of the later series of the 88.

The slanted cap with the black inlay was first seen on the 88P.

One of the main issues reported in this series is the fact that since the pens are assembled with old materials not always the parts fit perfectly together so the barrel threads or the caps are sometimes loose.

most of these pens use cartridge or converter

while the 022 is a piston filler

may I also point out that to my knowledge Aurora Duocart has a differently shaped cap

Somehow I'm not understanding what Aurora is doing. From what I see Aurora has presented a line of pens called "Archive Storic" which are made from old parts. The original pens must have had a name, not "Archive Storic". I only have two of these. One is the Duo Cart which Aurora says is the 60th Anniversary of the pen. What was Model 016s original name? The boxes I have for both the Duo Cart and the 016 are identical and both say on them "Archive Storic".

As I read diplomat, here, the 022 is based on the 88P, all other models based on the 98. I have also seen mention more than once that the new versions are a mix of new parts supplementing available old parts.

Two items that may help: Duocarts have been re-issued and the name re-used. Aurora is certainly not the only company to do this. Second, one shouid never assume that a pen is in the box it came with or was issued in the same decade as the box or is even the same brand as the box.

this much better picture comes from Goulets site...

the caps is flat, not slanted, and the clip is totally different.
fpn_1530297201__c9ec42c9-7312-48d1-abed-

the clip in the 016 is like the clip on the 88P

I think you are probably right, the later models are based on the 98

I have to dig out my 98s as I've not taken pictures of them

here is a 98

I was forgetting that the 98 has the clip very similar to the 88P

only the black inlay on top of the cap is rectangular rather than round (you can see it here)

however the 98 had the peculiarity of having an ink window, enclosed in a sort of gold cage,no other vintage Aurora has this

here is the information you really want

I knew I had read it somewhere

although this was posted in another forum I am sure that the informative value is such as to admit posting reference here

http://www.newpentrace.net/articleGA01.html

as you will see towards the end your 016 is the replica (probably with original pieces) of a late 60s frosted 98
