This is exactly what I thought. It was always my understanding that the nib and feed should be in contact with each other for ink flow and inserting anything between them that forces them apart might become more permanent than you think.

This stuff is about one twentieth of a millimeter in thickness and has zero strength. You cannot ‘force’ it into anything.

However, a question comes to mind: If you limit the ink flow, does the darkness (or richness) of the ink line change with the writing speed?

This will probably depend on pen, ink, paper and the person writing. But generally speaking, with reduced ink flow a paler line with fast writing seems likely.

I have a semi-flex Geha 725 that is sort of dry, and bought Waterman blue, under it's old name, and it cured that dryness.

I was then probably a three ink guy, Pelikan 4001 Royal Blue the Black and Lamy turquoise, also sort of dry......shades well on 90g paper.

The Waterman blue was the first ink I bought to cure a problem....perhaps the only ink I bought to cure a problem.

Eventually I went over to DA Royal Blue; a tad purplish ie more 'Royal', in it was as wet and more saturated.

Back then I didn't have good paper like now. I should try that Geha 725 with a dry ink again but on Rhoda 90g (don't have the 80g) and or a few other better papers I now have to see if paper contributed to the dryness.

In reference to P. T. Barnum; to advise for free is foolish, ........busybodies are ill liked by both factions.

Ransom Bucket cost me many of my pictures taken by a poor camera that was finally tossed. Luckily, the Chicken Scratch pictures also vanished.
